This is my BIRTHDAY month on the 11th
Nancy gave me flowers today. We chatted with them for a bit, after I got home from work, Jim just got home with my MIL, they went for lunch and spent the day together. We took her for a golf cart ride. She liked it alot, it was alot easier for her to get into, because it sits so CLOSE to the ground compared to a regular full size golf cart. She enjoyed sitting outside under the awning in the Sun. Then we took a drive and took her back to the house.
On our way back to the RV Jim asked me if I wanted to stop anywhere. We talked about the water heater. It's been so long and we're so sick of it. It's getting cold taking a shower till we get back here. So I said what are our options, what can we do. He said let's go into Lowe's. So we had to find one that we can plug into an outlet and didn't have too many amps. We had a nice chat with a Lowe's employee, he was very helpful, he helped Jim open the box so he could check the fitting. There was a 6 gallon with too many amps, so we found a two and a half gallon water heater. Really small but we both felt like we could make it work, and as they say better than nothing. He found the rest of the stuff he needed to install it. I went to look at more fun things till he was finished with that.
On Saturday while I was at work he installed the water heater. I'm so lucky to have a guy that can do that stuff. What a game changer 2 and 1/2 gallons makes.
Monday October 5th Jim had to get a covid tests after work for his procedure coming up. I work till 5:30. I have to get a covid tests once a week at work the whole month of October so far.
I called Thousand Trails Orlando and made reservations for his mom to come to Florida for the month of February. She will be staying in a getaway cabin in TTO. I was so excited after talking to them. On Tuesday the 6th after I finished getting my nails done, I was bring pizza home for us, I talked Jim into coming over to his mom's to tell her the info I found out and what it would cost. I met him at the sunset parking lot we ate our pizza together, then drove over to the house to talk to her. He said she wasn't answering the phone, but as we pulled up she came back from a ride with Shannon. Or as Jim calls her NOW his new sister. We had a nice chat, she is negative as always, she didn't like my presentation Per usual, I feel as though I could have done a better job. It was a lot of numbers to explain. I called them back the next day wrote everything down again they sent an email that Jim could see and make a copy and he could explain it to her again. I gave them $750. down the reservations are booked.
Thursday the 8th Jim left work a early as we had an appointment for him with Dr. Shipe the cardiologist at 3:45.
First we droped my car off at Ebersole's where Thomas works so he can work on my car. We were able to see him had a nice quick visit. He was telling us about when he and Travis played golf, and Travis got a hole in ONE, Thomas said he is pretty good.So cool to see your kids when they are at work. The engine lights been on forever, needs an oil change, and I think a new starter it's messed up and doesn't always start up right away.
Then we went to Boscov's department Store, Jim needed new shoes and a pair of jeans. I was looking for a mini wallet to go in my covid purse I made as I call it. Found one and new king size sheets, thats it.We thought the mall was dying out back in the day, it was really empty now. As we were heading back over towards where the doctor appointment was I said let's stop at Kohl's, they have a nice selection of shoes, he found two pair there. We went into Ultra Beauty and I got my hair product that I couldn't find at the mall either. Normally we would have went out to eat but with Jim's procedure tomorrow we can't do that. We arrived at the appointment and,
We talked about his colonoscopy tomorrow the 9th. So he hasn't eaten all day. What pills to take and not to take and his upcoming procedure we booked for 2 weeks from now is cardioversion. After we got home and the prep begins.
Everything went well on Friday with Jim's colonoscopy . They said he had some issues with diverticulosis, and maybe should avoid corn. He woke up like his alarm clock just went off. And was wide awake not like the last time. We ended up going to Ruby Tuesdays after the procedure. Since we didn't have my car, I drove the truck, is FUN but I do like it when Jim is along, even though he was under the influence of his propofol drug after his procedure, LOL. It makes me feel more secure when I have him as my Copilot.
Saturday October 10th we went over to his Mom and picked her up. Then we went to pick my car up it was finished . It did not cost as much as we anticipated , Thomas said later when they asked him what he should charge he said nothing so we didn't get charged for labor cost . Then we went to the hotel in Lebanon to pick up Jim's brother Larry who was in town for a few days. He's from Colorado has lived there for many years now. We went for lunch at the Quentin Tavern the four of us, we had a very lovely time. I had to be at work at 4. So since I was still in my car the three of them drove his mom's car. I was able to head back to the RV get ready for work, and they took a long drive and went sightseeing before they dropped Larry off at the hotel, then he took his mom home.
Saturday October 11th today's my birthday and moving day going back to TTH. I was hoping to see my boys today. They both called, Thomas was spending the weekend putting in a new floor in their main living area kitchen dining room and living room. He said it took a lot longer than he thought it would. I told him after he worked on the car, I hate to tell you but the engine light came back on again.
The beginning of this week I got my flu shot on Monday the 12th andTuesday another covid tests. Wednesday I had off today I made a trip over to Hilltop Acres grocery store, then stopped at Country View before going back to the campground. I had made a pork loin in the instant pot. We made plans to go over to Brian's house, AKA Byron. For dinner tonight , we had a little potluck. She made some chicken. I had this pork loin so I made pork fried rice. And I had made some hamburger macaroni soup that he likes so much. I also made a chocolate chip zucchini cake which I shared with a lot of different people, I had two servings left to freeze. We had a nice visit got some more firewood. Loved her new bakers rack, always wanted one.
Wednesday October 15th after work we made plans to go over to Thomas and see his new floor. I took dinner along we had a lot of leftovers from last night. I took more chocolate chip zucchini cake. But they had a little red velvet birthday cake for me oh, so we had both. Thomas hooked my car up to his little machine from work to see what the code was and why the engine light was on again. He said we should bring it in again, which we will do but we have to take the truck in first to our diesel guy.
It was so nice to see Thomas and everyone again the floor looks great.
Friday October 16th I worked late but Jim had to stop after he got off work to get a chest x-ray and a covid tests for his heart procedure next week
I work Saturday and Sunday October 17th and 18th Jim had picked up the mail yesterday and the Tupperware is starting to come in that I ordered, still waiting for some orders.
Beautiful fall leaves at TTH
Monday Jim picked up our new steps that finally came in. Glow steps found out they were coming from Australia it took about two months. They actually touch the ground so they feel very solid.
I had off October 20th and had made plans to meet Christine at the Moose's LZ restaurant out of the Gap again. She soon getting ready for her trip to head to Florida and then on her way to California. First I had to stop at work and get another covid tests. We had a nice visit we sat inside in the back dining room by ourselves until fairly large group came in found out it was a Memorial after a funeral. It quieted down so we went Out back to the outside deck and sat for a while. It was getting late I told her we could almost have dinner now, she said it was tempting. I texted Jim and said I was leaving soon. He said when he got home the camper smelled so bad of gas. I was so shocked but as soon as he said it I remembered I was cleaning a little and had wiped around the stove and obviously hit the button on. But never smelled it before I left. and I'm known for my great sense of smell, WAS so shocking. Luckily nothing bad happened. And he aired it out I never smelt it when I got home.
I worked late on Wednesday the 21st from 4 to 8 with a reminder to myself not to feed Jim after midnight.
Today Thursday 22nd Jim's cardioversion procedure. before we left I listened to his heart . it does sound very abnormal . We arrived before noon. it was probably the scariest procedure either one of us ever had to do. First they put a tube down your throat and are able to take pictures from the back of your heart. Then they have you all hooked up to monitors and shock your heart back into rhythm. I was all prepared to do some paperwork for work. I got all set up in his recovery room and in less than 10 minutes the doctor came back and said everything went great. he was back in rhythm. We ended up going back to Ruby Tuesday's. For a late lunch. when we got home I listened to his heart again, even to me it was a huge difference. the only problem they said he might have is you get what looks like a sunburn where the monitor shocked you back in rhythm. one on his chest and one on your back.
This is his BACK. He said that one did not bother him as much as the one on his chest hurt. It looks like a butt shot but I promise you it's his back, LOL.
Friday October 23rd he was supposed to take it a little easy today, as he did take off from work today. He wanted to install the new steps. and as us wives usually do Nancy volunteered Neil to come over to help him. which was very nice of them both to offer. They waited till I got home from work at 3. one because I had the steps in my car and 2, they were away for the day also. SO they got a later start on a big project than they normally would have. But they got it done. Thank you again guys here's the before picture and some action shots, and the after. You can see the Reebok step we used and the yellow levelling blocks, and Jim's collection of RED rugs, he LOVE's them, they have a nice thick rubber backing. We can get rid of all that, well NOT the rugs.I put the old carpet back on new steps. the new set has five we have to get a new one. The steps are called glowstep Revolution they are able to level the feet independently. You can click One Step Up and go to 4 if not needed. very stable since they touch the ground and very lightweight. Made of 100% aircraft grade lightweight aluminum.
Saturday October 24th I had off of work and we plan to staying home all day, getting ready for our last move tomorrow. As Hershey Thousand Trails closes oh, they are only staying open for people with seasonal sites this year. I was reading a little on Facebook this morning and saw that Marcia Hopper mentioned whoopie pies, and I said if you have whoopie pies you must be in our neck of the woods. She told me where she was they were planning on going right through our area on 322. we chatted back and forth for a long time. When Jim got up, he slept in today, I said how far is Denver from here, long story short we planned on meeting for lunch later. View out our door at TTH. As Jim packed up I ran to Country View store for a few things. Cool produce Got a shoofly pie that we could share since they're trying food from our area. I asked at the store if they could park their 5th wheel there while we went to lunch they said we could. wish I would have got a picture of their rig. there full time for 4 years now also. we picked them up in our car went to Quentin Tavern had a wonderful chat we had met them at the Escapees Bash in Arizona. she told us how they had two kids a boy and a girl and they were married to siblings which was pretty cool. they talked about how they met in college.
Tuesday October 27 I had a nail appointment at 4. We had to drop the truck off. Both places are out in Bethel, close together. Near where the house was.
After work Jim went home to shower. I told him when I was almost finished and he planned to meet me out there. I called him when I was done I was in the car he said he was coming up the highway so I pulled out at the same time he was going by and snuck in right behind him. it's saved him from coming all the way into the nail salon. After we dropped the truck we had planned to eat dinner at Esther's restaurant. They were closed on Monday and Tuesdays we did not know that. so we ended up going up to Moose's LZ in the gap. He can get the ribs that he likes so much because they only serve them after 4. we took a lot of leftovers home and ate a little later than we'd like to but it was great.
Thursday the 29th
During the day I was going to make my last batch of applesauce. when I went to check the box outside this is what I found. I had enough to make one more large batch and a small apple pie. There was only six left in the Box. I'm guessing a squirrel was my Apple Bandit, wish I had a trail cam on it to see for sure.
Jim had a follow-up at the cardiologist office with a PA. he came right from work appointment was at 4. I met him there. we had a lovely consultation with a new lady, Terra Sholley we never met before. she was wonderful very personable. We had a nice chat and she gave us some sample bottles of Xarelto trying to get a good collection of them before we leave, all our pills.
This month as usual I cooked up a storm. I made two batches of applesauce, have a lot in the freezer. Made an applesauce cake, made a spaghetti squash and butternut squash, made butternut squash soup with that. Made Jim a beef roast, made beef noodle soup with the leftovers. Made a small apple pie, and a casserole I like with pasta bacon onion and sweet potato in a creamy cheesy sauce. all that will keep us going for a while I froze a lot of it.
I miss the changing colors of leaves. Down here they have two colors: green and dead.
ReplyDeleteSo glad Jims procedure went well and he is fit and healthy.
You need to check out BoondockersWelcome.com. We joined as hosts and have a variety of people at our two sites. Can't believe the response. We currently have both sites occupied. One is a couple from South Africa who came here, bought a car and small travel trailer to tour the country. It might be something you would find interesting.
