Memorial Day with family

Memorial Day with family

Monday May 29, 2023

I was up first today I started the coffee and worked on the blog, Jim slept late this morning. I got ready, Sandie texted me she was already up at the family center. I hurried and went up, we did 3 miles of walk fit together, while we chatted a bit.
After we finished I came home. Got ready to go. Watched alot of people leaving this morning. Jim showered, then he grilled chicken to take long.  I packed up all the food I made, we left right before 11:30.
First we went to pick up Jim's mom. Then we had to move all the food into her car.
We drove out to Thomas and as we arrived and we're helping grandma in Travis arrives right after us. So great seeing my boys together, as they helped Grandma come in the one step entry door.
We chatted and Thomas got the grill going, grilled hamburgers and hot dogs.
We had a lovely meal together and I served our orange creamsicle cake for dessert. We all chatted for a while. So nice seeing everyone got as many hugs in as I could with my boys.
We started packing up about 2:30 to take her home.
We dropped her off but didn't stay long, just long enough for me to post with there good internet. Then we got diesel and decided to take the long drive home through Mount Gretna. Once we arrived and came in put everything away and relaxed for a while and then it was after 5:30 I was ready for dinner.  I made cornbread out on our Ninja Grill. We ate it with the chili I made yesterday it was dark bean chicken chili.
After we ate we took a golf cart ride. Some guy had a loose dog and ran out started fighting with a little dog on a leash, as they walked by, not cool.

When our ride was almost over we saw Pam and her husband Tom walking. She is the dance teacher I know from Orlando, they arrived today. We had a nice chat with them. Tomorrow they're going to Roots then we made plans to get together to all go up to Grantville and line dance.
Then we got all our "geese" in a row.
After we got home we saw we had a new neighbor rocking Russ, he's the guy Jim used to work with and they played together the other week. We went inside and watch the news and then we watched Naked and Afraid before bed.

Chinese food, and errands

Chinese food and errands

Saturday May 27, 2023.

Jim loves to say you never get a day off when you're retired. Today is my day off I'm not doing Walk fit on weekends. So enjoyed our coffee and breakfast. Talk to my brother Drew so excited to go up to see them and actually stay there in our home. He said he's working on our site. Still have to figure out the electric, as of now we will only have a 110 outlet. Never did that before hope our surge protector doesn't mind. Drew sent us this picture taken on the house side of the road, looking over where we will park the FW. It will be where the red line is. Backed up to the creek, you can't see.
Jim says it'll be fine, fine it's all fine. We tried to make some travel plans for later. So much to do and figure out. I think I taught him how to procrastinate too well, because we totally forgot yesterday we were going to do a few errands. Last night when we finally remembered, we said we would do them today. The biggest thing was get the mail. So we decided to leave and get  Chinese food our favorite peanut butter chicken.
It's funny cuz the lady in the Chinese restaurant said oh, you lost a lot of weight, which is kind of funny, Jim's laughing in the truck with me. He said you're supposed to hear the accent. LOL LOL that's probably wrong. What else is funny is today one year ago I found no BS up with my brother Drew and David and immediately starting my weight loss Journey. It's just so funny when someone recognizes you from a business and acknowledges your weight loss.
We like to come out to the truck to eat, that way I can keep some leftovers, and as soon as we did we realized what time the UPS store closes. Was 3 minutes from the time we started eating, that they close. So we have to do the mail another day, again. So we finished eating and that's when I did the two consecutive blog post, sitting in the truck.
Then we went to get beer, a few more groceries for our Memorial Day picnic out with Thomas. Decided to walk around Target first,  a brand new store in Lebanon, we were going to check out. Also wanted to run into CVS then we will head home. There is a CVS in Target so that saved a stop.
After we got home put everything away it was way after 5 pm. Had a lite dinner and went for a golf cart ride. They we having a live band tonight. We listened to the music.
Alot of country and I texted Sandy from TTO and her and Carol came up. We did a few line dances together. Jim never got a picture. But was fun. Then after 7:30 he started to rock out, then took a break. So we finished our golf cart ride. Ended up stopping with Dennis and Linda, were sitting out with there friends Chris and Kim.
Kim said what are you doing, I had to get a picture.
Kim, Chris me, Linda, Jim and Dennis.
She gave me a Cosmo and Jim a beer. We sat on the deck chatted for awhile. She asked me about NOBS, and then it got chilly so we all went inside chatted. We all left about 10:30. We drove home, what a fun day.

Sunday May 28, 2023

Today Jim was up first. When I got up had coffee and breakfast. I started cooking right away. I  made deviled eggs, potatoes salad, baked orange creamsicle cake out on the Ninja.
Then yesterday I thought that I might start making food and freeze it for our Maine trip.
Jim cleaned all the meat off the 2 chicken's from yesterday. I  made a dark bean, white chicken chili. Didn't have any white beans. Also made chicken corn noodle soup. Later I made dinner with almost all of the chicken left. My favorite casserole, had mayo, cream of chicken soup, celery and onions, water chestnuts. Put in MICROWAVE for 20 minutes. I saved us some to freeze too.
We went for a golf cart ride while dinner cooked.
Got home, later Jim made a fire.
Sat out for awhile, went in to watch Dateline.
I talked to my cousin Wanda and then took a shower. We went to bed late was after 10:30.

Smoking Chicken on the Ninja

Smoking Chicken on the Ninja

Friday May 26, 2023

This morning we did our morning coffee and breakfast. I did walk fit before lunch outside under the awning again. I saw this lady walking towards me, thought she look like Sandy from Orlando, thought it couldn't be. It WAS, She came up and said hi and said the same thing about me. It looks like her, she also said.
We chatted for a while as I kept moving my feet. She said sorry for interrupting, I said no problem I can talk and walk at the same time, most days. We did walk fit together and line danced in Orlando.
She's a widow for 14 years she said and her son helps set her up when she travels. She's from Reading PA, never realized that.
She asked me if I ever went to the Winner's Circle, LOL I said I was there last night. I gave her my card again and we plan to get together. As Pam is also going to arrive shortly here in hershey.
After I walked Jim and I had lunch. I put my leftover panini from the other day on the Ninja on air crisp and in like less than 5 minutes it was so perfect.
Then we got the two chickens I bought at Horning's. Not sure of their weight, but they were under $5 each. We made sure they would fit on the grill with the lid shut before we opened up the packages. Perfect fit, we put on Emerald Lagasse bam seasoning. Set it on smoker. It presets to a 4-Hour timer @ 250,  we let it go for two hours, checked it with a thermometer it temped at almost 170. So we took it off, put it inside to rest.
You can tell Jim has a picture in there.

A while later once we had dinner, it was good, but I wish I would have let it on for another hour, hopefully we'll remember for next time. I wanted it to be a little more falling off the bone. Jim has to take all the meat off the bones tomorrow, and I will make soup with it. And one of my favorite chicken casseroles. After we did that and dinner was over Jim and I made delicious frozen mud slides.
He started a campfire.
I stayed out with him which I don't do as often as he says he would like. We were outside pretty much on and off all day so beautiful out, although a little chillier than we're used to. LOL I even got a lovely sunset picture for the evening.
Just as a side note, as I'm publishing a couple consecutive post, because we're sitting in a parking lot now in Lebanon for better and faster internet. Even though it did kick me out once and I had to recover the whole post from Jim's phone, and reentered about 7 pictures. GEEZ...Once we leave the Lebanon area and go up to my brother's, I realize a lot of these posts are already boring as H. So I might go to once a week posting when we're Upstate Pennsylvania. But will continue Daily Post once we start traveling again in the class C motorhome to Maine, Etc.

More Line dancing FUN

More line dancing FUN
Wednesday May 24, 2023

This morning we had breakfast and coffee. Early afternoon Jim went fishing and I saw this park model that they hauled out of the storage area.
Later we took a golf cart ride and saw deer way up in the pipeline clearing.
Can't see them, and the sky was so blue, stupid phone.
Nice staying home all day, we have been running around so much.
Did walk fit today late, didn't like it then, procrastinated to long.  Did it here outside under the awning.
Beautiful blue flowers.

Thursday May 25, 2023

This morning we got up had breakfast and had dentist appointments at 12:00 noon, left the campground at 11:30 heading to Myerstown. We arrived at the dentist first time using our new insurance with her.
We had a great cleaning, but a little overdue. Chatted with Cindy our dentist for probably over 30 years.
Then we left to go to Plaza Azteca with her for lunch. Had a great time catching up.
This picture was bad, so I asked the waiter on the way out to take another. This time he gave us Sombrero's  to wear, so funny.
Then on the way out saw this huge 5 gal bucket full of Margarita mix. Jim was wishing this was in our fridge.
Then we went out to Mary,  the lady that did my nails for over 20 years. I had one that just wouldn't heal, I thought I'd put gel over top till it grows out. It was nice seeing her again and catching up. Felt bad I only was doing one. I do miss them, mine are so sharp now.
After we left we went out to Horning's Market.
That's what I call all the Amish stores that I go to now, little Hornings, it was probably the first one we ever went to. Haven't gone there in years and years since we sold the house, that was so close by. Used to love to go with my Dad, when he came over.  They have really good deals there, even had a pretzel food trailer outside.
Was tempting but we didn't. They also built on and doubled in size since we were there last. I went in by myself, only spent $48. I think. Pretty good for here, definitely could have been more.
Then we stopped at our local favorite pizza shop in Jonestown. Grab some paninis to take home.
Then we stopped out with Thomas, I texted my daughter-in-law that we were just going to drop off stuff because we wanted to go line dancing tonight, well I did, but to my surprise Jim went along happily.  We had to run home first.
As I was texting her Thomas arrived home, as we pulled in first. We thought it was going to be a little while yet before they were home from work. So I added to my text, to her, that Thomas was here now, so I guess we're going to be late. So hard to leave my boy,, hate short visits, but better then none..
Went in said hi was able to get my hug,
chatted for a little bit, made plans to get together Monday, and we headed home. Sarah just got home from school.
We put the groceries away that was perishable, had dinner, put on our boots, Jim took his pill, and we were out the door, heading to Granville.

Tonight they're supposed to be lessons. They taught cruising and a couples dance, we did too. He had a few beers, and I had a club soda, might be my new thing going out now, was good, need something different since we quit diet Pepsi. He did get an appetizer later.
Thursday nights apparently is Youngin night. I was dancing with the kids, was able to do a lot more than I expected was a lot of fun,  Jim and I even did a lot of our dances.
It was loud and they like to stomp there boots. We didn't leave till 10:00 p.m. what a great fun busy day.
I decided when we left last year I didn't want to sit around watch TV and crochet this year. I'm definitely not doing that NOW.

Visiting with former supervisor

Visiting with former supervisor

Monday May 22, 2023

This morning we got up had breakfast and Jim texted Neil. They wanted Jim to help him move the car for them, as today is their travel day to PA Dutch. Jim walked over and got in the car just as I took this picture.
Later we got ready in the afternoon and went to pick up his mother. We went to Funck's Family Restaurant in Palmyra for lunch.
After we finished we took her to Redner's so she could get her groceries for the week. I only purchased milk and a couple other little things. We were mainly helping her find her things. She was thankful that we got the scooter for her.
After Redner's we took her home and got her inside with her shopping haul. Then we left to come home, we realize later we forgot to get the mail.

Once we got home we got situated, I had invited my former boss, Terri to come visit. She's now The dietitian at Cornwall Manor where I used to work. She's a lot of fun, and has a great sense of humor, she always made me laugh. When she arrived we came in and I showed her our camper. She was never really in an RV before. Then I took her for a golf cart ride and showed her the rest of the campground. Jim came back and we all chatted for a little while.
She tried to talk me into coming back to work. She's so funny, I told you. Then we said our goodbyes. And she left I told her don't go over 5 miles an hour, LOL.
After that I heated up dinner that was already made, Jim had leftover lasagna soup and I had the last of the Egg Roll in the bowl. Then we took a golf cart ride together before we settled in for the evening of Naked and Afraid, Last Man Standing.

Roots and Park City Mall

Tuesday May 23, 2023

This morning I got up right after Jim. We had our coffee and breakfast and
Watched the geese coming in the back of our site.
Then made the official plan to leave and go to Roots. It's another farmer's market type of a place, only open on Tuesdays in Lancaster County.
We made the drive and this place had so much produce. I did buy some beautiful peppers all these for $3.50
Then we talked to this guy that was selling wine that is made with honey. I guess they used to do it a long time ago, but he said it's not really done anymore, but his son came up with it.
Sounds like they have a pretty good family business together.
We walked around quite a while
Furniture store here too.
Sweets everywhere,  anything and everything you can imagine.
Then we went back to the truck to eat the lunch I packed. It was about 1:30 by now and a lot of traffic to get out of there. Once we finally got out of there. We headed to the Park City Mall.
Walked around went into a jewelry store I still need a new necklace. Guy showed us one that was $795, lovely. I think I'll just get the ones I have repaired.
They have a Boscov's there and I went in to do some bra shopping. Which is a nightmare and not very fun.
Luckily there was a chair and Jim said and waited, I guess you could say patiently, he did quite well. I ended up finding two.
Then we went to the food court to look around Jim did get a piece of pizza
and we shared a soda. Then we went into Spencer's Gifts and that's always a hoot. They had funny T-shirts one said, "After I say that's crazy twice, please wrap up your story." Everyone knows some who needs that policy.
Also one with Jim's favorite saying
In my defense I was left unsupervised.
They have lovely outdoor seating and more shopping out here.
When we left we found a beer distributor on the way out. Jim pulled in and went in to get beer when I started working on the blog for a couple minutes.
Then we got back home. Brought everything in I heated up dinner and we watched a little news.
The coffee flavored wine, made with honey he bought.
He opened up a beer to because
Jim went outside and started a fire,
later I heard Denise and Ben come up and we're talking with him while I was working on the blog. He tried to get a sunset picture.
