This morning we got up and had breakfast and Jim booked the lobster boat cruise for 1 pm this afternoon. We ended up having a early lunch. I made Jim this lobster roll from the leftovers of last night's dinner.
Then Jim called an Uber to pick us up. It took a little bit for them to arrive. We walked out to the driveway entrance again. We were afraid we'd be late for the lobster Cruise. But our driver arrived and we were taken to Perkins cove.
We bought our tickets for the Lobster Boat. Then we saw Tom and he invited us to sit up in the front.
We had a wonderful ride and we caught a few nice lobsters. We saw a few of the things we've seen on tuesday.
He showed us which boat was President Bush's. Later we saw his grandkids taking the boat out. He said they don't take as good care of it as the president did.
Learned a lot about Lobster. Ken spoke of when a lobster out grows it's Shell, it has to climb out of it. And then it hides under the rocks for weeks till it can grow a new one. In the meantime it's very vulnerable. But the females mate once they molt their shell. They never mate with a male smaller than themselves.
Here Ken's showing how you measure a lobster, if it's either too small or too big to keep. Also explains the difference in the males and females.
We said goodbye to Tom, said see you at home. We had a very private tour only a handful of people on the boat. Once Labor Day hits the crowds really wind down.
Then we walked around a little bit, I had been texting Carla and Gary.
She said let us know when we get off the boat.
She told us they would come and pick us up and give us a tour of Kennebunk, and Kennebunkport. How lovely is that.
A few minutes later they picked us up and we had a wonderful drive with them all around, they showed us many different things. She took us to What's called the Wedding Cake House which was a beautiful building, no longer in use.
Trying to come up with a new life for it. Then the colony Hotel beautiful building. Quite pricey to stay, they said.
Carla said the grandkids took it over. There's always someone there. They said if the flag was flying, somebody was home.
The main house and all the beautiful buildings are all part of that estate. Can you imagine being their neighbor.
They gave us so much information that only local residents know. What a treat for us. They lived here pretty much all there lives.
Then they showed us the church that is the Bush family church, that everyone gets married in.
About 5:30 we're all getting hungry, so we decided to stop together for Seacoast Pizza and Pasta, her daughter's favorite place. She said they never went. It was fantastic we had a lovely talk. They are wonderful people, we so enjoyed their company. Then they took us back to our RV. We gave them a tour. Then we sat outside and Jim made a campfire for us.
Then Cheryl stopped by with our generator cover. It was all ready to go. She said I hate to bother you when you have company, but time was running out before we both were leaving. She crawled in the back of the truck again and this time I got her picture. As they tried the cover on for size. Perfect fit. We chatted for a minute and then we walked over to Tom and Yvonne.
They wanted to get a tablecloth, and Tom also asked her about getting a cover made for his motorcycle. They planned on when they both will be back here together, and will get together again. I said good night to everyone, and Cheryl left.
We continued to talk with Carla and Gary into the early evening. Once they left we couldn't thank them enough for such a wonderful day.
Now we really want to come back to Maine, just to see them. For Sure
