This morning we got up and got ready, in our mind, thinking we wanted to get to the shuttle bus by 10:00 a.m. on the first trip of the day. Because their last trip back is at 4:00 in the afternoon. That seems too early.
So we got ready figured out what we needed to pack, we each carried a backpack.
We walked into the office right before 11:00. Saying we are ready, we were shooting for 10 am, and here it is 11:00. How did we ever get to work on time.
Our driver was Ruth, we had a lovely chat on the way. It is close by. We were dropped off at the Ogunquit Footbridge Beach.
Just over the Footbridge was the Atlantic ocean. As to be expected, the views were stunning. We realized this is the first time we were at a beach for so long, so many consecutive days, and it was not super windy and freezing cold. Of course there was a nice breeze but lovely.
We walked all along the water, Jim removed his shoes. The tide must have been coming in, because soon as we started out, a ocean wave caught me and went all the way over my sneakers. Luckily my feet stay dry.
We kept walking and the second Beach we arrived at Maine Beach. There we're restaurant's, ice cream etc
Then we saw this beautiful church.
Then I realized it was now a store. I went inside had to find out its history. It was a summer Church, and then they built another summer Church in York. Then a permanent one, so 20 years ago they made it into the store. Loved the existing stain glass windows.
Then we found the Marginal Way path that goes all along the ocean. People from Pennsylvania told us about it a few days ago when we were on our golf cart ride.
Then we found a bench, they were all along the path. We sat there and enjoyed our lunch I brought as we just watched and listened to the waves.
Then We Came Upon Lobster Point lighthouse.
The Cove was full of shops, restaurants boats. We walked around and this older man with a cane said hi to us. We chatted a second he kept walking and greeting people as he passed them. Later we came upon him again as he was sitting and enjoying the view. I just had to talk to him.
He's a native from the area, his kids live here, and he's 91. Retired American history school teacher of over 30 years. He loved his job, couldn't stop talking about it. He said he makes the walk down here almost every day.
I asked him if he would do me a favor, and he said sure. I said would you take your picture with me. He said absolutely.
It was such a joy to have the conversation with him.
There was a breakfast one Jim said we would never make, LOL. A sailboat cruise, a lobster fishing and a lighthouse cruise. We got a brochure, hopefully we could do one at some point. Not hugely expensive.
Then we found the trolley. It was $5 each for us to ride back to our pickup point where our shuttle bus dropped us this morning. He thought about walking back, but I felt like it would be too much for Jim, and we had to be there by 4:00. By now it was after 2:00 in the afternoon. So we spent the $10 and rode the open air trolley back. It was very enjoyable, wish the ride was longer. Me arrived at or pick up spot at 3:30. We gave the campground a call and they picked us up shortly after.
Feels good to be home, especially for Jim. I heated up the leftovers from the other night for dinner. Had a relaxing evening the rest of the night.
I also before we left this morning I signed up for a huge NOBS NovCamp,
They call it, it is a in person camp that takes place in Tennessee on November 10, 11 and 12th. Or you can do a virtual experience from wherever you are with good internet. I chose to do that one, really wanted to go to Tennessee, but it was way more expensive. It's all about journaling.
They say doing the blog counts but it doesn't feel like it should.
