Leaving Alabama State Park to Lamont Florida

Leaving Alabama State Park to Lamont Florida

Saturday November 19, 2022

Hated to leave this beautiful state park. Heading to Gainesville Florida, would have been about a 6-hour Drive. So we decided for a one night stopover in  Lamont Florida. Jim found a campground called, A Stones Throw. It was basically a stone's throw from the highway. Was a nice little stopover. I went for a walk after we got situated. It did rain a little bit too.
Jim took the truck across the road to fill up with fuel. We had dinner and chilled for the rest of the night.

Sunday November 20, 2022

This morning we left around 9ish, since we had only a few hours to drive. We arrived at Santa Fe Palms in Gainesville Florida around lunch time. What a beautiful little Park, pretty new CG.
Not sure where to check in, as the building was closed. Just as Jim was looking on his phone, we were greeted by the  camp host. He told us where to park and welcomed us  to the campground. Later he stopped by our site when Jim was kind of still setting up. I think he felt like chatting with another guy. He was very nice and  told Jim all different places to go and eat etc. This was a great little stopover to visit with Cecilia.
They had a nice building, with lovely bathrooms.  A fireplace and TV out under roof near pool area.
Beautiful shower room, very new place. Love the pebble tile wall and floor, handicap accessible too.

We gave Cecilia a call and she came over to visit. This place was only 10 to 15 minutes from her house. The campground we used a few other times was lovely, but over 45 minutes away. This was so much closer. She got there we walked around the campground a little to show her around.
Had a shallow run off pond.
Had a nice visit and decided to go to Sonny's BBQ.
She was telling us stories of her trip to Europe, and Ireland. She's a world Traveler with a lot of fascinating stories.

Monday November 21st.

Around 10:00 she came over to pick me up to go for a walk in a Nature Park nearby. Jim stayed home. Before we left we tried to make another Thousand Trails reservation. I got on the call back list. Of course as soon as we started our walk, I got a call from them. Had my list with me, went through 10 campgrounds. No room in any of them by the end of my list. Will have to try later.. Then we continued our walk. We walked about 2 miles, saw two different alligators, one was in the Water swimming and then this guy right along the bank.
Probably only 8 to 10 ft from us. He was probably at least 8 ft long. Lot of beautiful views and waterfowl.
Then we went back to pick up Jim, we went to lunch at a lovely Pizza Italian restaurant. Jim got a calzone Cecilia and I had thin crust personal pizzas, we each took half of it home Jim even took half of his calzone home it was huge. We all had a salad, they had great little garlic buns, we took and later, I made egg sandwiches with. And we shared this for dessert,
even took a lot of that with us, she didn't want any. Jim loved it,  It was a wonderful place.

We came back to our RV visited a little bit outside. Then we said our goodbyes as we will be leaving tomorrow morning for Orlando.

We chilled the rest of the evening. I did take a walk alone around the campground before dinner.
Thanks you Cecilia for a wonderful visit.
