Memorial Day weekend

Memorial Day Weekend

Saturday May 25, 2024
This morning after breakfast I had a No BS Zoom call I wanted to do.
Then we went for lunch at the Chinese Restaurant we like in Lebanon.
Peanut butter chicken is my favorite.

Jim saw his friend Byron's grandson Travis in the restaurant. I grabbed a quick picture as he said hi to him and his mom.
After we left there we went to Camping World towards Harrisburg. Only found a few things we wanted. We needed a couple new rugs for our stairs.
Then we stopped at Redner's Grocery Store in Palmyra, and found Hard Mountain Dew.
Then we came home. Decided not to eat anything else as we were still full from lunch.
Later we got a text from Linda inviting us to happy hour tomorrow night at 6:30.
Shannon texted us and said his mom wasn't doing too good. She was on oxygen now we decided to go in.
As we left the band was setting up in the Pavilion. There was a storm on the way.  I guess they don't check the weather before they set up. Don't understand why they couldn't do it in the big building here.
The rain came down and poured like crazy for the last half of our drive until we arrived. It's about a half an hour away from the campground.
We arrived at his mom and by then she was doing much better, and off the oxygen.
Shannon had called Thomas and Kerri too, they also came in.
After we made sure everything was good, we all took off.
Glad it didn't rain on the way home, but we got back to the campground and the band was gone. Heard they set up and then tore down and left.
We drove around in the Smart car, and played golf cart. Nice and dry, no band in site. We looked.

Sunday May 26, 2024

I did my Sunday NoBS Zoom calls. Jim went into Lebanon Rehab to see his Mom.
He said he arrived as she was eating lunch,  but she was back on oxygen again. She has a terrible cough that won't go away too.
When your there she doesn't want to put her hearing aids in, then you can't talk to her
Jim arrived home way after 2:00 p.m. I fed him lunch.
I ate my dinner I planned. Jim had a late lunch so we grabbed our drinks and went over to Dennis and Linda. We were sitting outside by the fire. Of course she made snacks. Little lasagna cups. Loved the tray she had them on. The end of the night she gave me the leftovers. The tray has grapes and wine bottles on it.
We had a few people walking by that stopped to say hi and chat.
We stayed again till dusk after 8:00 p.m. or so. Then we came home and watched the new Naked and Afraid together. My favorite.

Memorial Day

Monday May 28, 2024

After breakfast this morning Jim and I took a walk together. We stopped in the store as they're finally open.
He didn't walk very long, so when we got home, I went back out again later for a good hour, was hoping to listen to the pre-recorded Zoom call. But the internet's terrible walking around here.

I arrived home we took a golf cart ride later after dinner.
Stopped and said hello and goodbye, as Brad and Colleen leave tomorrow, they were with there neighbor, Rick.
They are from Maine we had met them previously in Orlando. As we chatted it started to rain. We took off in the golf cart, it was pouring.
We held up for a little bit in the Pavilion until it slowed down,
we were treated to a lovely rainbow.

Bad Travel Day, Dinner Party. Visiting MIL, Happy hour, Smart People

Bad Travel Day, Dinner Party
Visiting MIL, Happy Hour,
Smart People

Monday May 20, 2024

This morning Jim was up first and I slept in. After a later breakfast we went to Walmart to get Jim's pills and a few other things I can't find at other stores.
Then we stopped at the UPS Store and renewed our mailbox for six more months. Forgot what a colossal pain it is to change your address. Still a work in progress.
I had texted Dennis and Linda in the morning to make sure they were still coming for our dinner party, we invited them to. There was lot of talk of it last night. With the cosmos flowing, I wanted to make sure everyone remembered. LOL

Then I got a text from Tina and John. They have a beautiful house in Legacy in Leesburg Florida now. But they travel in the summer, and we're arriving here this afternoon.
So I invited them to our dinner party tonight.
It's nice when friends, get to meet other friends. Which is how we met them, through Sallie and Stewart,  who live in the same community in Florida.
They arrived right before we got back from the store. We had seen their camper close to ours and stopped to say hi.
She said they had a Bad Travel Day. They only planned on staying for two nights, but their main slide wouldn't come out. Sounds familiar.
It has been  giving them problems before. She also told us how the truck was having issues too, three different times since they left Florida a week ago.
We went home and Jim brought everything in and changed his clothes and went up to see if he could help with the slide. They were concerned if they did get it out, they wouldn't be able to get it back in, for when they leave in 2 days.

While Jim was gone I got a text from John in Port Richey who has the F-450. He said a guy stopped by and talk to workers he had on site, about the truck. He said he seemed interested and we should give him a call.

Tina and John have a permanent site at Otter Lake for many, many years. And they're going to be heading up there. So bummed that they decided to just leave, and go to the campground in Otter Lake. We understand.
They have a tech guy there, that could help them with the slide. No one is available here in Lebanon County.

Sadly they couldn't make our dinner party. They were here such a short time, I never even got a picture. But they definitely weren't happy campers to be bringing out a camera. So we said goodbye and came back home again.

We got a gallon of windshield washer fluid. Jim put almost all of it in the Smart car.
We didn't think it would take that much. The fuel tank only holds, maybe 8, to 10 gallons max. Looks funny with the hood open.
Jim had a few appetizers.
Started prepping for our dinner party with Linda and Dennis Price. Pierogies in the Instant pot on the truck. Lol
First we made an apple dump cake on the Ninja, then Jim grilled carrots,  zucchini, and green beans. Then he made a turkey and a beef kabasi. Then he grilled chicken, she brought salad and some delicious rolls and bread. Jim got the tablecloth out, which we only seem to use now, when we entertain. It gets so full of pollen and dust. We had a lovely meal and sat out till almost dusk. Of course the cosmos were flowing.
We tried calling Bob, that is interested in the Ford, but no one answered. It's not a number you can text. I will try again tomorrow.
I washed all the dishes and then we watched a little TV before bed. What a lovely meal with friends.

Tuesday May 21 2024

This morning I was up first. When Jim got up I made him left over fried potatoes and eggs.
We called Bob to see what his interest was in the truck. He said he still thinking about it. He definitely wasn't as interested as John made it sound like he was.
Then we had leftover pierogies and dump cake for a late lunch. Trying to make a list of things we need to do, especially before we leave the area. Seems never ending.
We left to see his Mom in Rehab.
When we pulled out. For a split second I thought I saw Donna, a line dancer from TTO. Have to look later.
Stopped at the cardiologist to get pills for Jim.  Talked to a former co-worker that works there now.
Then headed over. She was sleeping when we arrived.
We helped her with her evening meal.

After we got home, we had dinner together and then took a golf cart ride. I told Jim our mission is to find that car, which was a champagne colored Ford Escape. I was so sure I saw Donna from Orlando.
Very close to us was the car.
They were just walking the campground and we saw them on their way back. We  chatted for quite a while. I don't think Jim ever talked with her husband Rich before. They both do walk fit too.. So exciting that they're here and she told me Paula was here too. Another line dancer. I said we have to get together. Jim and I finished our ride and got home and watched a little TV together.

Wednesday May 22, 2024

This am after breakfast I went to Country View Market up the road. Great little Amish store.
Found a lot of Awesome deals. All this for $60.
Local strawberries are not cheep, but SO good.
While I was in the store Donna sent me a text and invited us to happy hour tonight with everyone from Orlando that's here. So exciting to see everyone. I miss them all so much. Especially our line dancing fun.

When I got home Jim playing the drums.
I suggested he shower before happy hour. Of course he agreed.
Then we had dinner together and took the golf cart up with snacks and had a wonderful happy hour with our TTO friends.
She had tons of food there, Jim snacked on all their treats.
The guys chatting.
Then Donna took us in the motorhome and showed her new furniture to us. She had everything inside recovered, for a total of $7,000 I think she said. Everything was peeling. She said they sat inside on lawn chairs for weeks, till it was all finished.
After we said our goodbyes we had made plans to get together to line dance Friday. What a great night

Thursday May 23, 2024

After breakfast this morning Jim and I went to rehab as Brigitte is having a virtual meeting with her medical team. We wanted to be there for that, we arrived just after 11:00 and it didn't start till closer to noon. They really didn't say anything we didn't already know.
We had a good visit, she's doing great Shannon was there too.
Then we left came right home had lunch together and took a golf cart ride. Cool sign
Jim seen a Smart car being towed by a motorhome. So we drove by and they were just setting up and we said hi to Natalie and her husband Brandt. They are from Pennsylvania too. He's an auto mechanic, camping with his boss next door in a motorhome. We had a lovely chat about the Smart car.
Took a quick picture as we drove away.

He gave Jim some tips. We said it likes to Buck when you go slow through the campground. He told him what to do we'll see if it works.
They said they like to go for a walk. We said to stop when they go by, and see our rig.
We got home settled in for the night had dinner. We had a knock on the door about 8:00 p.m. Natalie and Brandt were walking by with her dog Winston. Can't believe I forgot to get pictures. We continue to talk about many things. Such a lovely young couple. Probably chatted for 40 minutes I bet.
Then we went back inside for the night, and finished our show.

Friday May 24, 2024.

I went to bed early last night as I was awake at 5:30 yesterday, for some reason.
I got breakfast together and walked up to line dance with the ladies. I left about 9:35. Line dance with Carol, Sandy Paula and I.
Carol brought her daughter-in-law and she joined us for a bit, we danced for an hour then everyone left.
I decided to do a mile walk fit and then I practice some line dancing by myself for another good hour.
Got home started working on lunch. Got a call from Nancy and Neil they stopped for a quick visit after his medical appointment today. Great to see them and hear an update that he's doing so well. He gave Jim some firewood. They took off cuz they had groceries in the truck.
Then we finished working on lunch Jimmy made a steak, I ate my salad. When he finished he grilled a couple burgers for the next 2 days. Then we chilled for a bit I worked on the blog.

Then we headed out first we stopped at A&M restaurant supply. I wanted a new commercial plastic wrap. I normally get it at Sam's Club. Jim did not want to drive all the way there.  He made it his mission to find a place I could get one locally.
He did a great job , we talked to the lovely couple that owners of the store. They used to own A&M Pizza, it's still in the family.
Lovely Italian couple we had a great chat about cooking.
Then we took off to go see my mother-in-law. Thomas and Kerri were there too.
They were going out to eat after our visit. We all had a nice chat together. You can tell she loves it when we're all there, she's doing quite well. She is still set to go home on Wednesday May 29.

After we left I got a text from the eye doctor saying I missed my appointment today.
OMG,I forgot...
after I got home and looked at my date book I was supposed to be in Elizabethtown for a glaucoma check at 1:10 this afternoon totally forgot. When we arrive back at the campground we stopped at the food truck that is here Fridays.
It was everything grilled cheese you could imagine.
We decided not to partake, we chatted with Natalie and Brandt's boss. And we saw Brad at the truck too. Everybody was talking about the Smart car. Once we left we got home and had dinner together, I had plenty of leftovers.

Family Food, and Friends

Family, Friends and Food

Friday May 17, 2024
We had breakfast and later Jim had a knock on the door from Bill. He had suggested we go to meet them at the Quentin Tavern tonight for dinner.
We spent the morning talking about  doing just that tonight after we visit, and say good night to his mom.
Then Jim went out to get the golf cart out. He started the truck to put air in all 4 tires of the golf cart.
As soon as he goes outside someone's talks to him about the truck, lol. One guy I looked out and saw, came back again and bought one of his PVC pipe flag poles . As we were also getting our grass cut today too . You can see our flag like one he just sold.
Then he came in for lunch later. After lunch we went to the rehab center to see his mom. We had a great visit and Shannon was there with one of the dogs she watches, Bailey. Apparently she stays close to his mom all the time at the house.
After they left I worked on my blog, there internet was great.
We left just after 4:30 and went to meet Bill and Marilyn Dobbs at the Quentin Tavern Restaurant.
They are the couple we met two seasons ago in Orlando with our twin Lifestyle fifth wheel. Bills truck,
Beautiful flowers outside
It's exactly like ours on the inside, pretty much but a different paint job. Here's a picture of it as we passed by it.
We had a great meal,
and Marilyn and I brought leftovers home.
Jim's reuberger, which is a burger in a Reuben with his fries. Next to that I had a baked potato with pulled pork and cheese little barbecue sauce. Marilyn's was behind mine with pasta with shrimp and crab. Bill had a similar pasta dish with seafood and bacon on top.
At the last minute, I decided, I did want dessert.
I remembered the nursing home I used to work at, a co-worker, Joy made the chocolate cake with peanut butter icing and carrot cake with cream cheese frosting for this restaurant.
They are awesome so I ordered a piece of each planning on sharing with Jim, and taking some home for tomorrow. Marilyn only wanted a taste of the carrot cake, said she doesn't like peanut butter. LOL I love it so much. I had a cup of decaf with it, it was so delish.
We walked them out and said our goodbyes, " see you at home ", I always say when we're in the same Campground With Friends we go out with.
Then we stopped to get firewood as they sell it at many locations near the campground here at Thousand Trails Hershey.
Saw some geese on the way back to our site with a whole bunch of babies.
Jim and I took a golf cart ride went up to see Dennis at the guard shack. Wanted to get a golf cart pass, and chatted with him a bit.
Beautiful rhododendrons here.
We wanted to hit the food truck it was cheesesteaks today, but we got back after they were just leaving. Jim wanted to get one for tomorrow.
Then we continued our golf cart ride and saw this cool sign on the back of a Montana. It really fits our life now.
Then we came home and Jim had a campfire. At least now we have a place to store some firewood, with the rack we got from Dennis for the back of the HGT. Jim doesn't have to buy it and burn it. Although we don't need to take any upstate when we leave here, in 3 weeks. As we'll be on 90 Acres of Mountain Land in upstate. Pennsylvania. I watch some of my shows while Jim injoyed his fire.

Saturday May 18, 2024

This am we had breakfast and lunch,  Jim grilled a couple of burgers. Under the awning because we had quite a bit of rain again today. It was a gentle rain though.

Three ladies in my NoBS Accountability group went to in person camp in Tennessee this week. It is all about body image.
Cindy,  cut out picture of Corinne, Linda and Sandra
Later we went to see his mom in rehab.
Then on the way home we stopped at Weis Market, another local grocery store . First we got gas in the car and then I went in by myself, for about an hour.
Arrived home, I ate my leftover potato with pork for dinner, and Jim grilled  a steak outside on the Ninja. He had the leftover mashed potatoes with spinach, bacon, and onion as a side. Then we watch some TV.

 Sunday May 19, 2024

I guess you could say today we sort of took the day off. After the normal morning and afternoon routine.
Saw the weather report today.

We said hi to Dennis as he had a day fire and a drink on his day off.
Then we went to Redner's local grocery store for a few things and stopped and got beer on the way home.
They had invited us over for happy hour at 4:00. I put a few things away and grabbed some crackers and a cheese ball I got at the store.
We went over. She had a lovely array of snacks and shrimp and dips. Jacqueline, there neighbor was already there when we arrived, since we didn't get there till about 5ish.
We had a lovely evening together and stayed till about 7:30,  8:00.
We took a little golf cart ride before we went in for the night. Watched another Naked and Afraid was a new one Sunday nights.

Best Moving DAY ever

Best Moving Day ever

Thursday May 16, 2024
We had sort of a leisurely coffee and breakfast. Jim got us moving along and packed up for our 8 Mile Drive to Hershey thousand trails.
I will be following in the Smart car since it's such a short distance.
I stayed behind Jim as he made his way pulling out of our site.
Quite a few tight turns with rocks, fence and other obstacles.
Neil and Nancy said hi on our way out. She gave us some banana bread she made. Delicious, Neil has been having some health issues and has surgery on Friday.
Wishing them both well we said goodbye.  Jim did a great job making the left hand turn out of the park, that we was so worried about.
Trying to get pictures, as we pulled onto Rt 72. ( top one )
We were on the phone together the whole time. Check in is at noon, so we went only a few miles away to the Dollar General.
Jim pulled into the Eagle Rentals as we needed propane, and can get our bottle filled there. After we did that he turned around and I jumped in the car and made a super quick run, next door to the dollar general. I made great time and could have stayed in 20 minutes longer. Lol
Facing each other in the parking lot of Eagle rentals waiting closer till noon.
A couple, pulled up and asked if I was okay, or needed something, she told me that the car was super cute. Then at about 11:45 we pulled out and headed to Hershey.
I went first after we left Dollar General so on the tight turns closer to the campground, I could tell him if anything was coming.
I definitely wouldn't want to be the chase or lead car on long trips. But it works great for some people, that  apparently love to drive. That's not me, although I love my little car.
We pulled in and got situated and then Dennis stopped. We are in between his Park Model, that's For Sale, and new fifth wheel he put on a site. He does laundry with it, and then has to put it back in storage.
We got set up and while we were talking with Dennis, Glenn and Carla stopped by and chatted a bit in their golf cart.
Dennis wanted to know if we still want the rack for the back of the truck. We sure DO. He helped Jim put it on. He wants to put the generator on it. Make it easier to Boondock.
Then later as we were finishing setting up Marilyn and Bill Dobbs stopped. I saw they were here on the way in.
They are the ones that have our twin Lifestyle fifth wheel. We met in TTO two seasons ago.
Super nice and we chatted with them hopefully we can visit later. Didn't get a picture, but this is their fifth wheel above.

Then Thomas planned a great evening for the four of us. So nice to have our family together.
We went out to Thomas's house in Jonestown and jumped in his car and picked Travis up on the way.
I managed to get some family pictures of us.
My boys L Thomas and Travis has short hair now.
We went to a Hershey Bears game Fantastic being together.
Jim's not so good at doing a selfie.
Travis took a better selfie of us.
Was great being together, with my boys. The game was good too.
The guys had a few beers and they had a  great game with a score of 6 to 1. Bears win.
We hung out in the parking lot a bit till traffic cleared out alittle.
Then we dropped Travis at home. We arrived at Thomas's house, then drove home. Late night for us. I drove in the dark. But they have to get up early tomorrow, We don't :)
