Switch It Up give back
Friday April 26, 2024
This morning we had the alarm set for 6:30. We got up had coffee and went over for breakfast with the switch crew. They had scrambled eggs, bacon, fresh fruit and muffins for breakfast. After we ate, we all car pooled and went for the Wormsloe tour.
Robert offered to take us in their Fiat. Which we took them up on, Dina and I sat in the back. We all fit.
Sheila with our guide.
A lovely good mile walk under the shade of the oak trees that were planted many, many years ago.
They had a couple shuttles for people with mobility issues. After we were almost at the destination where you can get the shuttle back, Jim couldn't go anymore his back was hurting so bad. It was a hard decision, but I kept walking and he started back.
Later I told him if he would have stayed with me, it was a much shorter walk and then, get the trolley back.
Headed into Savannah there was an On and Off Trolley you could get on. But they stopped running at 5:00.
Went to Byrd's Cookies
By now everybody was starving for lunch. We found a great barbecue place we ate at. Jim and I shared a meal, which we very rarely do and it was plenty for the two of us.
On the way back the guys wanted to stop at Harbor Freight. Jim is still trying to get the winch to work. They both got a few things, and we made a quick stop at Walmart.
The traffic was very slow on the way back and we didn't arrive till after 7 pm, we were still so full from lunch we never even had any dinner. We were both tired and I went to bed first and around 9:30.

We got up had breakfast and out the door. Met at the parking lot of Savanah Lakes campground for our give back this morning.
Sheila always says the gift back is the hardest thing to plan for a Huddle. When you call an organization, sometimes they're overwhelmed by almost 200 people coming together to make an impact. Depending on what they do it's hard to organize.
A couple different things were happening today.
Able-bodied people would be cleaning up trash along the stretch of road near us, we were issued Orange vest, gloves, grabber picker up things, technical term, and a little fan.
We were told to wear long pants, closed-toe shoes and bring water. We split up in a couple groups, car pooled and met at a designated area. Eventually a police officer was there to assist.
The other group stayed behind and put together thank you baskets for First Responders and delivered them later in the afternoon. Val and Kev helped with that.
When we finished around noon we returned the items, sanitized our hands, car pooled back to the campground.
Went back to the RV so Jim could shower. Then we met the crew back for lunch and they did a question and answer with Todd and Sheila. Yesterday people wrote questions and they went through them and started answering them. Was alot of fun, some funny and some, deeper and emotional, tugging at your heart.
After lunch we went over to see Dina and Robert's Grand Design fifth wheel toy hauler. It was an awesome kitchen and great space in the toy hauler, his office.
We watched the video of a Brinkley he would like to get. A bit of a video of No Sticks No bricks that are here, Jason and Jen.
Later at 6:00 we all met in four smaller groups, with specified potluck destination with our hosts, Jennifer Songer.
I got to see inside of our camp host new Brinkley. They are only in it 3 weeks. There GD is staying with them a few months.
It was the model that we just watched the video with Robert and Dina at their fifth wheel that they want.
Once it got dark the bugs come out.
Before we left the potluck, Todd rode by on his one wheel. He was looking at the sky, said WHAT'S THAT.
We helped Paul and Ayran take their chairs back home in the Smart car. He was telling us details of the launch. He worked on some of them.
Then Jim and I settled in for the night. Tonight he went to bed first and I stayed up to watch the end of some show I started.
Reading your activities exhaust me. No longer able to do all that. But today we are taking our RV visitors to Rattlesnake Saloon and Coon Dog cemetery. And last night they went to 55East with us. That will be all the activity I can take this weekend. Envy your youthfulness.
