Out to lunch and pack up day

Out to Lunch and pack up day

Wednesday April 24, 2024

This morning we had walk fit so sad it's my last time here in TTO. Then I went home and tried to help Jim as much as I could pack up and put stuff away inside.
Pam picked me up at 1:00 p.m. and we went out to lunch together. She's a great line dance teacher here and we hung out with her last season in Pennsylvania.
She's a frequent Cruiser, too, so I learned some things about our upcoming trip.
We went to  Sarah's Greek restaurant she is a vegan. We had a lovely chat and she dropped me off about 3:30.

Then Jim and I put the Smart car on the truck. The winch wasn't working again to pull the car on. We have to do something about that, so Jim had to back it up the ramps. Not our favorite way to do it. But it worked, a little scarier though. Ok alot scarier.
He loaded the golf cart before I left. He finds it a lot easier with the Smart car ramps.
I made breakfast and lunch for travel day tomorrow. Put as much away as possible inside. Then we put our living side slide in. Then we watch Survivor and Amazing Race Jim went to bed before it was over.

This morning we had the alarm set for 6:30. Jim got up first but didn't turn the alarm off. I got up when he came up to turn it off.
We got ready went outside pulled out about 8:20 am.
All went well and we were driving only a short time when an alarm in the truck went off. Jim said it said critically low engine coolant. Now what.
So we pulled off on an exit ramp. Of course my first thought is to call Scott. He was available and called me back after I texted him. My phone wouldn't let me call Canada. Gezz..
He said check it and send him a picture. It was under the minimum amount. It only seemed like it went off on a hill.
He said get some when we can. So we pulled off at a truck stop about 20 miles away. Decided to heat up our breakfast then .
I guess we got distracted and he forgot to go in to see if he could buy some. Terrible short term memory we have...
So shortly after we had our breakfast and left again. On a hill it went off again.
Again we stopped at a Pilot and he did buy some and added it, was almost a gallon. It never went off again.  Had three stops in first hour.
I really wanted to make this our first visit here, we need it, no time today.
Then we ended up cruising for quite a few hours after that. We stopped once to have lunch.
Love having the porta potty too. We never went in the RV once. I suggested Jim opened the door once and look in, he said everything was fine from what he could see.
We arrived at the Huddle in South Carolina around 4:00 in the afternoon.
Savanna Lakes, a very new RV Resort.
We saw our AGM batteries were less than 39%. NOT GOOD.
It was plenty of time to check in and gets set up, say hi to passing crew members, as we set up.
Our camp Section Host, stopped by and brought us a welcome cookie plate.
We took the truck up the road and offloaded to Smart.
I had one of our geckos come along for the ride from Orlando, he was right next to the winch.
Jim took a shower and we went up for the evenings activities.
Todd welcomes everyone with his usual, "welcome to switch crew world "
He said about 40% of the people, it was there first Huddle.
We had a lovely meal together of huge chicken breasts, mixed vegetables and rice. They had lovely fudgy brownies and lemon bars for dessert.
We had a great get together but they have a problem with the no-see-um bugs here.
After dinner on our first night was wrapping up Todd offered everyone to gather around the Spacecraft as he had a surprise for everyone.
So we gathered round and before we knew it the roof opened up and he popped the door open and out comes Todd in his chicken suit.
Long funny story but his CB handle now since he has a Mack truck is Chickenfoot. It all started when he was doing a live video one day with Sheila and they were playing with a rubber chicken, and she accidentally pulled its head off.
I believe it all stemmed from that. Anyway we had a good laugh and then Eddie came out dressed as Woody and they hugged.
The bugs were getting even worse now and we chatted and then headed back  in the Smart car. First we drove it around and looked at the campground first, it was pretty dark by now.
What a great day, This is going to be a super fun, long weekend.
I will end the post with a picture of my youngest granddaughter Mia 12 years old.
