Fishing is all fun & games UNTIL the COPS show up

Fishing is All fun & games until the COPS show up.

Tuesday February 15, 2022

We set the alarm for 6 am this morning. Jim was up and awake way before that. We had coffee and I packed my OM to go. I made Jim breakfast eggs and ham. He made an English muffin too. We tryed to think of everything we might need for our day of fishing. We left at 7:30 am. Was a cold start to the day.
It was less then 15 minutes away. Austin is a Coast Guard Certified Master Captain, or something like that. He is 6' 7" with red beard. He is from Canada but lives here now, really nice kid, good at what he does, made the day really fun. He looks like a giant leprechaun, lol, no offense.

Jim made the reservation awhile ago and pre-paid. First thing we saw was his truck.
He was there already, the boat was a 26' tritoon I call a party barge. Would be a really fun boat to have.
I was looking forward to the boat ride even more than fishing. We backed into one of his favorite fishing holes. I pulled in the first 3 fish. First one was a bass,
This was the chain pickerel
And gross looking Bowfin. Not shown

Then Jim got a few too. He caught all Bass.
I said something funny, don't remember what,  LOL

Then we saw this guy. Just sunning himself.
We went in a different canel, he likes to fish in cover. There was a dock with boats and a mobile home park behind it. There was an older guy there, he said Hi to him. Then it got interesting...

He asked Austin if he had the Ruger. He said he did,  he wanted his license and for him to pull over that he was going to be charged as a felon. Apparently this guy's wife found a Ruger that was loaded on the bank in that area and this guy that said he was a retired cop for some reason gave it to Austin, because he said he was a captain. Anyway he said he was going to report it stolen, this guy wanted his gun back.. and that he could be charged as a felon. Anyway Austin got really nervous oh, he said he would dock, he took his time very slowly and actually called the cops to come and assist.
Long story short, he took us back, almost an hour early. He said he was going to refund our money oh, he kept apologizing and said this never happened before, of course it happens when we're here. So we went back to the RV had lunch. Jim took golf cart to office they had some mail for us that was delivered here today.
Austin called us later, he felt bad that he ended our trip early asked if we wanted to come out again tomorrow, he said it's really nice out now, do you want to go again now. So we ended up going back at 1:30 for another 2 hours with him, after everything was straightened out.
The cops met him at his house and he took the gun out of the gun safe and gave it to the cops, for them to figure out who the rightful owner was.
Two rehabilitated cranes  stopped by when he returns to the doc, and he feeds them the leftover bait.
It was all catch and release, for the record I caught 5 fish, Jim got 3. I WON.

We got back to the FW, so tired he fell asleep, the phone woke us up.
I made taco salads for dinner. He watched Hockey. I did 2 posts in one night. .

Saw this beauty out back after dinner, each  ran out  for a pic.

  1. Were you arrested as accomplices? Do we need to hide our guns when you are here? Will you be considered a gun moll, Darlene? Curious minds want to know.
