Sweet Home Alabama, HDT Day 3

Sweet Home Alabama Day 3

Thursday February 22, 2924

We work up about 3:30 am Jim helped me get down from the top bunk shortly after.
We made our trips up to the bathroom. I made us each a big cup of coffee. We pulled out of the rest area just after 4:00 a.m.
Jim is not a fan of driving in the dark. But it worked out great, the traffic was so minimal that early in the morning. We drove for a good 3  1/2 hours. It was just starting to get daylight by now.
I was never so excited to get to a McDonald's before in my life. Looking forward to having COFFEE.
He had a couple Egg McMuffins, even got refills of coffee. Talked briefly with some people getting ready to go golfing this morning.
We parked next door at the Walmart and headed out.
We drove the rest of the way through Missouri, into Tennessee. We got super tired again and decided to stop at a rest area.
They had a beautiful cabin that was built to look like a recreation of a old cabin.
We ended up having a substantial snack for lunch.
Then I layed down again for a rest. When we got up, and went back inside for one more potty break. The lady said to me, " my you've been here for a while. "
It was a great rest area, unfortunately you can't stay overnight at this one, but we were not ready yet to stop for the night anyway. It was so quiet here and so far off the highway too.
You had to walk up stairs to get up to it. I took pictures from up there.

We took off again, and drove till we found another Wal-Mart. Needed more water, I drink a lot of it. Bought a pumpkin pie and some whipped cream too.
So excited to see Len and Phyllis and get to the house for the night. It Feels like home.

Right before we arrived it started misting a little bit. Jim put the windshield wipers on, and the one on the driver side flipped up and almost went flying off. He turned them off and luckily it stayed put.
There was nowhere to pull off. Luckily the rain stopped and it eventually dried, and he still had good visibility.

We arrived at their home about 4:30. We were in communication with them, as Len had a eye doctor appointment, then they were picking up some meals that they had ordered from a fundraiser in the area. She also put venison with potatoes and carrots in the Crock-Pot for dinner.
We arrived and I helped and watched Jim back the truck up to the house. No RVers were in the 2 available Boondocker's Welcome sites.

He fixed the windshield wiper.
He took a shower, I went outside and waited for their arrival.
Got my first hugs when they arrived.
 I helped carry stuff in.
We had a wonderful meal together, they brought home 2 meals, one catfish and chicken finger, with french fries some really good coleslaw and two desserts. Plus we had our pumpkin pie and some whipped cream.
After dinner we chatted for a while, eventually I took a shower.
After getting up today at 4 am, I was really to get settled into their guest bedroom for the night.
What a wonderful way to end the day with our dear special friends that are just like family.
Such a big thank you to them both.

  1. If Jim needs to replace that Wiper Blade, it might be wise to replace them both with All-Weather Blades. They are more dependable.
Say hello to Irene and Len for us.
Be Safe and Enjoy the HD.

    It's about time.
