Affinity RV saga continues...part 3

Affinity RV saga continues...part 3

Monday October 2, 2023

Hopefully another Happy Monday, and we can get out of here today.
I was up before daylight, Jim got me moving again, as he does..
We finally had all the slides in around 9:30 a.m.. the slide didn't really want to come back in.
Jim saw the UPS truck coming in.
Jim started to get the truck ready and put the water hose and water softener bottle away.
We were able to talk with Rod alot today.
Dustin came over to change out the switches, that just arrived, which are in the underbelly in the back.
Dustin had a guy helping him and he would push on the button, Dustin would yell to him and tell him what to do next. Then they would leave the door open. It was super hot today. I didn't want to start our boondocking trip with the camper at 90° inside.

I had went and turned on the AC and shut the door. They kept leaving it open. An Open Door drives me nuts.

We sat in the truck probably almost 2 hours. I was able to work on this blog. Ed and Susan sat in there truck too, next to us. We also talked with them alot too.
Then all the guys went on lunch break. When they came back on about 12:30 or so Jim and I were hungry and ready to eat the lunch I prepacked. Which we did, and we sat at our "potluck " picnic table again.
As he was putting everything back together and they got new strips to close everything back up underneath.  He was putting the screws back in and Rod, was right there with him. I have the one picture you can see both there legs hanging out from under the RV.
He drilled up into the fresh water tank and water ran a over them. He couldn't believe he did it, but it went into a previous hole he thought. So Rod crawled back under with him again. Found out they pulled the wet insulation out, and put a plug in it. Replace with new insulation.
As Rod explained, then suggested we should stay one more night, just to make sure the tank doesn't leak.

Also Rod did say to us to made sure everything was good. Well...
Last time they recaulked alot, but used clear and it was originally done with black caulk, which looks so much better. Rod said he would have the guy redo it. Since we are staying one more night.  It wasn't the best caulk job ever, but looks better.
OK, ONE more night. So Poppy as Ed called him, had to go into the hotel again tonight, his FW is back in the bay.
Some other Montana guy was staying here overnight with us. Not friendly like the other two guys.
Montana pays Affinity to do there warranty work. That's why there are so many here.
Another time we sat with Rod and talked. Some guy returned a sunscreen for an awning. You attach it and there's a zipper you can unzip. I'm not sure what happened there, but he ended up giving it to us. Jim said it would be great in Florida this year.

Later in the day when everyone went home, Jim and I had dinner together. I guess it's nice, we're not boondocking in all the Heat, and it was easy to heat up our dinner.
Decided to do another load or two of laundry.
We walked around out back later, had a beautiful sunset
tonight on our last night here.

Last night in Affinity RV. Today's moving day.
This morning I was up before daylight. Heard everyone starting to come in. We went outside and started getting things together,  again. We checked as much as we could and felt like it was okay to go.
Rod got there just as we were getting ready to leave. So glad we got to say a proper goodbye to him and thank him for everything, it  was all on our dime from the first time we were here. He said if you need anything give us a call, we will see you again.
Such a great guy and Affinity RV group is a wonderful company.
We left around 8:30 a.m.. today we have to deal with the time zone change.
Jim wanted to get fuel and we saw a Love's and it said RV Stop. So we went on in and didn't realize RV Stop is actually a campground right on the highway. But you still have to use the truck diesel pumps.
We had to go into the campground and make a U-turn to get back out. Then we filled up with diesel.
We headed for Springfield  KOA, in Illinois for tonight. We arrived at the KOA between 2:00 and 3:00 in the afternoon.
Once we checked in we asked about the way we came into the campground. The Garmin RV took us in the wrong way. It was quite a few miles on a dirt road, luckily we had no issues, and only had to pass one car, that got way over for us. There was no signs or anything coming this direction.
She explained when we leave to go left Instead This Time tomorrow.
We got set up,  and while he did his thing,  I decided to scrub the wheels. And wash the streaks from where he cleaned, before he changed the color of our caulk yesterday.
Later I got to talk to Cindy Smith. Found out I have to come up with an address for no BS to send me a package for the virtual Camp, I will be doing beginning of November in the Keys.
Then we talked about the upcoming Tampa RV show and Switch It Up campouts in Kansas and Oklahoma. Then later a NOBS Zoom call at 7:30 here, with my accountability group. The time change is messing with us.

We went to bed before 10:00 p.m. we were up early this morning probably will be again tomorrow.
