The RV Odd Couple
Monday April 10, 2023
This morning Jim was up at 7:00, since we were up so early yesterday I rolled over after he got up and went back to sleep. I didn't wake up till just after 8:00. We wanted to be up at the building this morning at 9:00. I started drinking my coffee and we got ready. I grabbed my rice krispie treats even though it's not really a breakfast item. It is our only time when we can share with everyone.
We walked up to the building, there was a small gathering, they had a nice continental breakfast set up with muffins and baked goods and a lot of fruit. I put my stuff down and John and Mercedes were there and a bunch of other people. They get together every MWF at 9 for prayer, breakfast and a project of the day..
This is there house, right across the road is the fellowship hall.
The one picnic table was full, but there was room on the end for me to sit, and I told Jim to pull up a chair I didn't want to sit in the corner away from people.
It's funny how you talk to people that have just what you want or need to hear. The man next to me was from Kansas, which we want to go to see the HDT rally there. And a couple across the table, our neighbors Barb and Dean, they are from Maine. We had a lovely chat about both States, we had a nice bite to eat and more coffee.
And then one of John's employees I think his name was Bubba Tim. He wanted to know if any physically capable people were willing to help. They wanted to put a big plastic tarp over top of a greenhouse they were working on. Jim went into the bathroom and he asked if anybody had ladders. So I volunteered our ladder, when Jim came out of the bathroom he said he had one.
So they went up to get his and a few others. They had a side by side to put it on. Then we got some pictures as they laid the plastic tarp on the ground.
And just as they started to lift it to go over the structure. The wind lifted it just enough to hover over. They got on the ladders and snapped the clasps onto the poles to secure. And they put some poles along the edge.
In the meantime they had an Easter egg hunt for Sage, their daughter, as all this was going on around them. John said, God provides what we need, here at Thunder Canyon.
Then we took a group shot of everyone. John told us all to holler Thunder Canyon, God, family, country. Which we all did a few times per his instruction.
John was taking video as the guys were doing all the work. After that we went back to the RV.
We talked on the phone for almost an hour with Billy and Cindy, as they travel with her 99 year old Mother to TN Huddle from Texas.
This FW was John and Mercedes, they now rent it out. There were people in it packing up, as we cooked and ate we watched them work. Later John and Mercedes along with Sage came up to clean it out.
We started grilling and I made us salads for lunch. We sat outside to eat grilled chicken. We will Grill again later tonight for dinner.
After we were finished we were sitting on our chairs and our neighbor Dean came over with his dog Bernie. We chatted for probably almost 3 hours. He left on Alabama time around 4:00. Jim prep the fire for later tonight as we invited everyone we saw, to stop by. I came into work on the blog and then we grilled more chicken for later and boneless ribs for tonight along with some leftovers that I have.
After we ate dinner Jim went out to light the fire. A couple stopped and chatted a bit, that were walking by. Barb and Dean came over, and later the guy from Kansas. Traveling alone on a 3 wheel bike and a tent.
Had a great fire, to dark for a picture, and the stars,, were bright, they left about 9:30, pm we watched a little TV before bed. Pretty cold out now.
