Can't believe it's December Already

Friday December 1, 2023

Hard to believe that it is December 1st today, Jim's birthday month.  It's on Pearl Harbor Day.
Preview...
We have a fun weekend planned, after breakfast later in the morning we got ready and heard the lawn mowers and weed wackers going. Jim moved the truck, and we had our grass cut today. After our gardener's finished our yard, lol. Looks nice.
We took a golf cart ride, and took out the garbage. We took a picture of us down at the river, in our patriotic red shirt Friday outfits, a tribute for our military past and present.
Then we stopped to check activity schedule here, and saw this sign for the Escapee park just 3 miles up the road. They have an annual indoor yard sale Saturday. We went to it a couple years ago when Marsha and Jeff were there. I sold some of my upcycled plastic bags I crochet. She sold her Color Street Nails.
We decided we wanted to go to Pizza Hut, for lunch. They used to have buffet during week days. We arrived I asked Jim, before we went in, what's our plan B, if they're no longer doing it. I just had that feeling.
Since Covid, I think they stopped it.
We went inside, a lady jumped on us immediately to seat us, I saw cups stacked on the buffet area. We decided to do plan B. I guess we had our heart set on pizza and salad. So even better choice we went to Giovanni's, on Main.
They bought the building next door and adding on. They have lovely outdoor seating also. They put in a divider wall, so each table has more privacy.
The only huge difference I saw, was no wood burning in the pizza oven. They just had a gas flame going. That's the first time, we didn't have the wonderful aroma of a wood fire burning inside.
We couldn't figure out why, wish I would have thought to ask.  Jim said maybe because it's extremely dry and they're not allowed to. That does make sense.
After wonderful Pizza, garlic bread and salad, with leftovers.
We headed to a produce place,  up the road. Usually stop at least once a year, didn't make it last year.  They also expanded and had a lot of choices. With a large variety of different items. Last time I thought it was not that fresh looking, minimal selection, and overpriced. It was a lot better this time, and this is what we purchased.
After that we decided we wanted to find the Whiteside Sawmill.  You can get scrap wood for campfires.
We pulled into the driveway, guys were working, Jim walked up to one, they pointed up the road. Long drive back, there's some mulch piles, sawdust pile and wood scraps.
They have a mailbox for donations. We got all this wood for $10 donation.
On the way home we saw another HDT for sale.
Jim stopped and I got out and looked and took a few pictures. The pictures do not even show you how bad it really was. NOPE,
At the time of this posting, I checked the pile. After two long fires he had during hockey games, it's barely dented. We should have went sooner.
It's going to last longer than we anticipated. Jim said it burns great. We just don't need the extra weight now.

Saturday December 2, 2023

This morning after breakfast we got ready and went over to the Escapes Co-op Park, "SKP" close to us here at Peace River in Wauchula.
They were having the indoor yard sale. Found a few things I wanted. And were able to talk with some lovely people that live there. It is a beautiful park.
We're thinking about, in a couple years doing a season of workkamping there. We would stay for 6 months for a site, Jim would work 30 hours a week, in maintenance, I would work every other weekend, in the office, and or the kitchen. We would get a $500. Plus my pay a month, also a $30 allowance for laundry. Base allowance for electric, Too.
Sounds awesome.
We're also considering getting on their waiting list for a permanent site. For 7 to 8 years from now, when we MIGHT,  be closer to getting off the road.
We're going to go back to talk to them for more details later next week.
Picture of the pool, the sale was in building next to it. Tools etc were just outside of it.
Went home for lunch and later we took a golf cart ride and got a phone call from our new insurance lady. We have to come up with a new coverage plan for the coming year.
Later we went home had dinner and Jim had a campfire with his new pile of firewood.

Sunday December 3, 2023

We did our normal breakfast routine. Late morning I had a 2-hour Zoom call with No BS. I was able to get live coaching with Corrine Crabtree for the second time. It is life changing being able to talk with her about any issues.

After that we had lunch together.  We had a planned visit with Switch Crew,  Aryan and Paul McIntosh,
they came over for a visit. It was extremely humid out today, but we sat out under the awning, turned out to be very nice. I really enjoyed their company. Before they left they came in and we gave them a tour of our fifth wheel. And they invited us to come see theirs, later in the week, we definitely want to do that. We said our goodbyes and remembered to tell them about K&J meat and produce up the road, in Arcadia.
After they left we had dinner together and settled in for the night. By now it was dark, had a relaxing evening back in the AC.

  1. Don't you just hate how early it gets dark now. We sure do. At 5 I feel like I'm ready for bed.
