Local Community Benefit

Local Community Benefit

Saturday June 24, 2023

This morning after coffee and I fed Jim and Drew breakfast,  we left the house about 11:30 to go to the party. Pretty much an all day benefit. Once we arrived Jim and Drew hit the beer tent pretty quick. It was $25.00 a person for all the booze and food you wanted.
The weather turned out to be pretty decent, eventually it did pour for a few minutes. About 2:00 we went in to eat. They had a Buffet set up with grilled chicken, which was the first thing they ran out of I think. We did get some good pieces at the end where the bones were falling off.
They had pulled pork, roast beef, baked beans, baked potatoes, Jim got the second to last one.
They also had potato salad, macaroni salad, watermelon and cantaloupe and a huge dessert table that the church congregation provided.
It was a delicious meal, I was pretty much done eating for the rest of the day. They had live music playing all day.  Jim loved that.
To the right of the tent was a big pot they made chicken corn noodle soup in.
The motorhome was there, David donates it for the day so they can count money in. Plus he stayed in it overnight from Friday till Sunday morning, as he volunteers the whole weekend.
Then they had items people donated and you could buy tickets to win the different items. We spent $12 and had 12 chances to win. Here's a picture of some of the things.
Unfortunately we just made a donation and didn't win anything. I put tickets in for two huge bags of yarn, a margarita kit, six little frames that each had a  gift card in them, a couple plants that I would have left here at the house for Drew, big cookie basket with all kinds of cookbooks and baking utensils.
There was a guy cutting hair and donated all the money to the cause. I got Jim to get close enough for a picture but he said no way.
Later there was a guy with really long curly hair way longer than Jim's, and he said he was going to shave it off if they could collect $1,000. At the very end of the night about 7:00 they cut it all off. Jim said they would have had to give him $3,000 for him to do it, LOL.
They were just having the best time, so cute. We all should live so free.
We met a lot of people that Drew and David know, that never met me so nice being able to spend this much time up here. We met another couple that Drew wants to take us to visit at their house, we got ready and left about 7:00. Got home about 7:30 they had the munchies and had a snack. We watched a little TV before bed.

Sunday June 25, 2023

I made scrapple and eggs and toast for breakfast for Drew and Jim. Drew went outside to start cutting grass. Soon as he got situated it started to rain. He said that was quick and came back inside.
The rest of the day it rained on and off. Jim and I made a beautiful lunch together, he grilled burgers outside I made onion rings and french fries in the Ninja and I had made the big broccoli salad. Later for dinner I made chicken cordon bleu, a big mixed veggies on the Ninja and Jim took care of, it included zucchini onions, peppers, yellow squash, carrots. It was delish also had a huge salad and I made banana pudding for dessert.
David got home just in time to have dinner with us.  He said they raised 40 thousand at the benefit.
The three of us went for another deer ride, saw 70 deer this time,  we kept a count with paper and pen. We were gone for 2 hours from 7:30 to 9:30.
When we went back in the house and went to bed and Drew and I watched Naked and Afraid, last one standing.

Feels good to be HOME

Feels good to be home

Monday June 19, 2023

Woke up feeling great, was in bed almost 12 hours. David came over to move the MH and took it to get inspected.
Once we came over for breakfast, it was to the point where Jim called it brunch. I made ham with potatoes onions, peppers, eggs and cheese for breakfast. We plan on only having one other meal later.
I told David that we could make some steaks we had. Don't want to take our Florida Steaks, back to Florida. After breakfast / brunch we had phone calls to make.
We decided to drive into Dushore so we could use our cell phones to make the calls. Had to call to make my doctor appointment, and had to call about our pills, we need to refill here now, and called the library to pay our internet,  since something's wrong with Jim's email.
Then we went into the grocery store bought a few things for breakfast tomorrow. Had a little ice cream treat from the store. Then we drove home. David went to get his motorbike inspected too. He ended up buying steaks and potatoes and everything for dinner. He made a huge meal for everyone and big salads. Drew was in charge of the steaks out on the smoker.
He has a wood burner, behind him, that heats water and heat. He always has hot coals to cook on.
I did a lot of laundry today here for the first time. It's awesome using their dishwasher too, then the three of us sat down and had on Naked and Afraid, Last Man Standing. Wasn't over till after 9:00. I wanted to shower and wash my hair. Sat down in the basement worked on the blog while it dried. Jim already went home and went to bed.

Tuesday June 20, 2023
Sarah's birthday 16 today, got her permit.

This morning Jim and I went over to the house after our coffee. It was after 9:30 nobody was moving around yet, Jim and I had breakfast together. I made him a piece of the leftover steak and eggs.
Later the boys had the same. Then Jim decided to go work on our 30 amp breaker plug. That way we can put one air conditioner on over there.
Some of Drew's carvings.
Then he also finished the install of the 50 amp plug in the front of the fifth wheel. Now we have 2, 50 amp outlets, it will make boondocking easier, because the generator is in the bed of the truck .
I was cleaning some windows after breakfast. I ate a later lunch with David when he finally ate his steak. We sat around and talked, all of us together, which is always enjoyable. Love hearing David's hunting stories. Drew had an appointment so he left around 3:00.
Jim had a celebratory beer after his big job , then he played the drums since we are home alone.
His view up there.
Then he took a shower.
A friend of Drew's Jesse came over, I gave her a tour of the fifth wheel. She had never seen it before.
Later for dinner I'm going to make Olive Gardens Zuppa Toscana soup for dinner with the salad and bread sticks.
I sat with Drew for a while, I did some no BS with my ear plugs in. Jim went home, and after I emptied the dishwasher,  I was about to leave and it started pouring. I waited for a while before heading over. Jim sent me a picture of when he went home he saw this deer in the road.
I guess it just couldn't stop staring at our golf cart.

Wednesday June 21,

This morning we were awake early, like 6:00 a.m. ish. Once he finally got up had our coffee, got to the house about 8:30. I decided to make a veggie mix and make omelets with it for everyone for breakfast, brunch. It had onions, peppers, zucchini, yellow squash, mushrooms, spinach, topped with salsa and cheese.
Drew went out to weed whack for a while, he had his last.
After breakfast David left to go get his bow worked on. Jim took a shower once Drew came in and ate and showered he had an appointment at 2:30.
When he got home he had motorcycle hair. While he was gone his scared e cat sat with Jim.
David and Jim started to grill / smoke some chicken.
Jim helping alot.
We had all the same leftovers from last night, just added the chicken and I made a apple carmel dump cake.
Before David went away he saw this snake in the basement.
Then the 3 of us went out to look for deer, saw so many we lost count.
Beautiful rock wall, Drew said was probably over 100 years old.
Then Jim spotted a bear off along the tree line.
If you zoom in you can see black dot right in the middle of the tree line.
We drove around and he started running to the road.
Running
Beautiful pond
Bald Eagle out in the middle.

Thursday June 22, 2023

Today I made sausage biscuits and gravy for their brunch, no picture today. Drew was weed whacking,  it's a never-ending job here. Later after I had a lite bite to eat, Jim and I went to Tunkhannock again to get our pills.  Went to CVS first finally got that done. And I went to Aldi's, $150. to feed my three guys, feels like I got a lot.
Then we stopped to get beer.
Jim left the truck running, and there's a cute little store across the road. I turned the truck off and locked it, texted him I'd be right back. Beautiful little cottage house that I think is a candy store, I never got to go in.
But it looked like they sold plants in the back too, the beautiful garden and sitting area.
Jim is ready to go and I can tell he was annoyed and ready to go. We left and went to get diesel. He should have went while I was in Aldi's. Would have saved time. Till we got back to the house brought everything in. A few things went into the RV. I started dinner and put pork chops in the oven. I made a mixed veggies of onions, peppers, zucchini, yellow squash and a potato, Jim put on the Ninja. I put yellow rice in the instant pot. And the three of us had dinner, by this time it was after 7:00. After dinner got the dishwasher going and we watched a little TV.

Friday June 23, 2023

This morning after our new normal morning routine. Drew and I went out to a few different places, we left about 11:30 am.
First we went to Steve's Saw Repair.
He needed a new chain, couldn't remember the number of it. They had a whole didn't chain saw language, lol that was very new to me. They talked about a raker. It is a depth gage for the teeth.
After that we drove past our Grandparents house on our Mother's side.
Then off to Mark's Trading Post. Middle pic, Drew wanted new jeans, but couldn't find any. He very kindly got me a pair of hiking socks.
Then an Amish store called Wengerd's,
I still like the ones in Lebanon County more. Top pic above
One thing I was never, NEVER in and out of so many store's SO fast. Most of which was in Hughesville Pa.
Then TSC Tractor Supply Co.
Cat food a tool for the outdoor wood burner. And still couldn't find jeans.
Cool Yellowstone shirts though.
Then the quickest trip into a Sam's Club ever. Drew bought everything he realized we did alot of food shopping for here.
Then last stop cool antique, very eclectic huge shop, with anything and everything.
I could have spent hours in there, it was really close to home but it was a super quick trip. Most of which are things you can't purchase when you live full time in an RV.
When we got back to the house it was about 3:00 in the afternoon. Drew suggested we go out to eat while we were out, but I said we had so much food at home, which I prefer anyway. Drew and I had leftover chicken, rice and veggies. Later I made Jim a cheese steak for dinner with a lot of leftovers for later. Drew and I were good for the rest of the night. While we were gone Jim played the drums and watch some movies he likes. What a fun day it was with him.

Class C Adventure Begins

Class C Adventure Begins

Thursday June 15, 2023

This morning we got up had breakfast at the house. Started to pack up the Class C. Had very little time in to prep, but here we go.. We had turned the fridge on last night so it was nice and cold. We left about 10:30 a.m.. when we unplugged the motorhome we realized the fridge went off. It wouldn't come back on again, Jim realized it must have been the battery. We stopped halfway point which is the Buckhorn exit. We parked in front of a KFC but actually went into Wendy's for lunch.
Then we headed out again arrived at Hershey Thousand Trails about 3:00. Our friend Dennis was at the gate and he said " wow, you guys didn't kill each other yet in that little thing. " Jim said well we've only been in 3 hours,  give us time LOL. Hilarious hun.
NO fire's here, fire Ban
We drove around to find a site. Jack and Mary, part of our switch crew is here they are from Virginia. We had spent time with them while we were there at Chesapeake Bay Thousand Trails. Neil and Nancy are also here.
We got situated, tried to level the rig. Plugged in at least the fridge is back on.
We chatted with Neil and Nancy a bit when they came over. They said their dog wasn't doing well. Jim got the Ninja out and we air crisped some fish and made little fish sandwiches. I made macaroni and cheese in the instant pot and green beans. And I brought a little Rice Krispie treats along for dessert. We just spent the night enjoying our little rig.
So far amazingly I didn't forget anything. Although the one job I gave Jim to grab the phone chargers and the Internet and it's charger. He forgot the charger for the internet. Tried to borrow one, He will have to stop and get one. The one job he had for packing.

Friday June 16, 2023

I slept on the table bed last night but it wasn't great. I asked him if I could sleep with him tonight, of course he said yes LOL. David has a mattress topper  and it was a lot better. Jim got the Ninja out again and I made him leftover French toast I brought and sausage and some eggs that David never ate at the house.
Later Jack and Mary invited us for dinner tonight it's so nice of them. They told us they will do whatever we need.
They are so nice that overwhelmed me to tears. Love our switch crew. Jack took Jim over to his mom's to get her car while we are here. So nice.

Found out from Neil and Nancy their dog took a turn for the worst, and we saw him carrying the dog out to the car,. Today was the day they had to put her down. So sad for them.
About 5:30 we went over to Jack and Mary's for dinner,  again it was so lovely of them to invite us.
I told them next time we're in the same Campground with our fifth wheel I'm going to make them a couple dinners. She said they don't even like to cook.
They have quite a large Class C motorhome.
We had a lovely evening came home before dark,  settled in for the night.
We went to bed at 9:00 and we had new neighbors and they partied all night I slept great from 9:00 to 1:00 in the morning and woke up and they were so loud and so annoying. I found out later Jack reported them thank goodness a lot of people around us heard them. So inconsiderate.

Saturday June 17, 2023

Today there was a car show going on we slept in so late because of last night's noisy neighbors. We never did get to go, we had breakfast got ready and then a quick lunch till we did all the things and took off for our errands.

Today is Sarah's birthday party at 4:00, we're picking up Jim's mother soon. First we went to pick up my rings they look so beautiful here's the after picture.
I had Jim put my wedding rings back on. So special to have them again. And my mother's rings look beautiful together as one.
After we left there we went to CVS. Of course they screwed up our pills and they're ready, in Florida but not here. No more refills so we couldn't get any today. Then we ran into Giants to get a birthday card for Sarah. Then headed over to pick up his mom. She wanted something at the store so I ran into Redner's out in Fredericksburg before we went to Thomas in Jonestown.

We were the first one there it was a lovely party Travis and Mia showed up next. Her parents and Grandparents were there and her stepdad and sister and husband we had a full house.
So much fun being together with everyone.
I love it when my boys and the two girls can be together. It fills my heart with warmth of love and family.
Sarah's opening birthday gifts, her mom and Travis both gave her Student Driver, please be patient signs.
Jim took his mom home after we had her birthday cake look how beautiful they are.
The small cake is a SpongeBob theme.
He took her home and came back we hung out till about 7:30 after everyone else left the boys decided to go play tennis with the girls.
We finally said our goodbyes I always hate to leave them. We had an invitation to go to Dennis and Linda's Park Model for drinks snacks and shenanigans. We got into the campground went straight there, Kim and Chris actually our neighbors here, and there friends we met before,  the the Six of us had a lot of fun together. Then the cosmos started flowing.
First time I ever truly had a buzz from booze, vodka is something else. Thomas gave me a whole bunch of Crystal ICE Sparkling Water and I diluted the heck out of it with a lemonade one.
BUT Made for quite the interesting night. We got home about 11:35 I told Jim I hope we're not the loud noisy neighbors tonight LOL. We are not. I had coffee at Thomas's with the cake and it kept me awake for quite a long time.

 Sunday June 18th Father's Day.

This morning we got up had cold cereal for breakfast. Said goodbye with more condolences and hugs to Neil and Nancy and I wanted to show her my rings. Then we talked to Jack and Mary, and after they took showers Jack took Jim over to return his mom's car. When they returned we packed up dumped the tanks and headed for Upstate Pennsylvania in the Class C.
The fridge works now. Had a great trip, stopped againat the Buckhorn and went into Ruby Tuesday's for lunch.
Then arrived at the house about 330. Alot of work carrying everything in.

I think we finally decided that we should take our FW HOME to Maine. It would be 6 weeks, and that it a long time to be without our comforts of home.
I was so tired had a lite dinner in the RV, I made quesadillas and I was in bed at 8:36.
