Visiting YORKTOWN

Visiting Yorktown
Wednesday April 26, 2023

This morning we got up and drank some coffee, Jim went for an early morning walk, while I listened to live with Corinne Crabtree with no BS. When he returned I had made him fried potatoes onions with some eggs on top,  I ate while he was gone.

Then we got ready for the day, later had lunch.  We went to Aldi's first, we sat in the parking lot in the truck for probably at least 40, 45 minutes and took our internet with us. It worked like a charm, lighting fast, I finished the last post and published it.

Then I went into Aldi's by myself, It's So Different Here than Florida, not busy at all. Although after we talked about it I bet in peak season this place is really busy , since it's such a touristy area . We picked a great time to come.
We went into Walmart together and he needed a light bulb for the truck headlight, one burned out and he bought the wrong one first.
Found some dry lube that WD-40 makes, I recently learned about. I want to use it on the awning arms and Landing legs. Of course he found some beer and I only got a few groceries. Then we left to come home.

On  arrival I wanted to roast some baby carrots on the grill and heat up our pork chops from the other night for dinner. Was already after 6...
First are neighbor Rick in the tiny fifth wheel came over.
He bought Jim a six pack of Yuengling lager in  bottles. It was incredibly nice of him, they were talking about it the other day, as he sat and talked with Jim as he grilled, and again today.
And then the two people we talked to the other day that stopped looking at our Glow Steps came by and told us they had ordered them. And they leave tomorrow. There excited to get them.
Then some other lady with three Yorkies stopped and was asking us about our water softener..Jim thought she just wanted a short cut to her site, so she stopped by to talk..lol.  She was telling us how she was visiting in the area.. but so much walking, was so funny, we are the information center in the RV World here apparently.
Then we finished heating up and  eating dinner, we went inside to eat. Then we came outside and grilled chicken for tomorrow and later in the week. We put the smoke in, it  gets fantastic in there and so fast cooking.
Jim started a campfire and we sat out till about 8:30 as it was getting chilly.
I came in first tried to watch some TV, but just doesn't work here on T- Mobile. Not bad on Verizon, but we have a limit on that. Jim came in and we went to bed about 10 pm.

Thursday April 27, 2023

This morning we got up around 8:00 a.m. had our coffee breakfast and I packed a lunch for the day. We were able to get out the door just after 10:00 a.m., which is good for us lately, we heading to Yorktown for the day. We found a place to park the truck and walk down to the waterfront. Check out some stuff went into a little shop. Found red earrings I wanted and the lady that takes care of my MIL called to talk about how she's doing. To try to explain the phone call from yesterday they had while I was in Aldi's.
Beautiful water front
the bridge in the picture above we had to wait for it to scissors open for big ships. We waited on the bridge would have loved to see it open from this angle.
Then we walked up to the truck about 1pm and had lunch that I had packed.
Then we walked around got on the free trolley. Went to the battlefield, we had a guided tour it was very interesting. She talked about the events that lead to the last major battle that won the Revolutionary War.
Below is an amazing chess set
They're are beautiful flowers everywhere.

There we bought our lifetime membership to the America beautiful pass for $80. Our first stamp as we also bought the passport booklet. Now we can go into any national park for free. That's pretty cool Jim has been wanting to get it for over a year now.
Then we walked to the victory monument. It is 84 ft tall, with another 14 ft for Miss Liberty.  First constructed in 1884, They had to replace her in 1956  as it was struck by lightning. Now you can see a lightning rod in it.

Then we got back on the trolley and went to the Revolutionary War Museum. We arrived just after 750 kids left we were told.
The above is just funny. I love all the blue and white decorations

Then we went into a 4.00 for senior Watermens Museum. This educational Museum demonstrates the role Chesapeake Bay Waterman played in the molding of our nation, from pre-colonial to Modern times.
It was so funny I saw a guy in there with a Whites Harley Davidson t-shirt on from Lebanon PA. Of course we chatted for a minute, they're from Lancaster. Small world as they say, but I wouldn't want to clean it. It is always my joke.

Then we walked along the York River walk.
Which opens into the Chesapeake Bay and 6 miles it goes into the Atlantic Ocean
It was a  lovely walk.
We left and as soon as we got back in the truck I remembered I wanted to go back in the store and get a red pair of earrings. So Jim drove me down and I ran in and got them. Then we left and headed to Taco Bell. After we ate we sat in the truck I worked on the blog. Then Bryon called, good timing they chatted while I worked on it.

Visiting Colonial Williamsburg

Visiting Colonial Williamsburg
Monday April 24, 2023

Today we did our normal routine just hanging out.
Jim and Neil did go out for breakfast this morning. Afterwards they did make a booze run, firewood and stopped at Wal-Mart, wish he would have said they were there.
Only picture that I could find of them together.

Later when they returned we went for a walk, it is pretty around here.
A lot of water views. Later we took a golf cart ride, and said hi to Carla and Glenn from PA.
We really didn't see Neil and Nancy today she hasn't been feeling well.

Tuesday April 25, 2023

This morning after we had our coffee we thought we should get ready to say goodbye to Neil and Nancy, as they knocked on the door. They came in for a minute we said our goodbyes and they pulled out about 10:00 a.m.. we will see them in PA soon.
Then we tried to figure out what we were going to do for the day, decided to go to Colonial Williamsburg. We got ready and left about 11:30. It took about 45 minutes to arrive went into the visitor center you can buy a senior pass for $2.50 to ride the bus everywhere. There are 7 stops, doesn't take long to hit them all, we seen them all, got off at stop 7. Then
We went to merchants Square to see what we could find for lunch.
We found place called Salad Works. We shared a grilled chicken sandwich and a southwest salad was about 2 pm by now.
There is our bus, and the Governor's Palace.
Carriage rides sold out, 55.00 a person the one driver was from Lancaster PA. His last name was McCorkle.
Told Jim found some firewood

Jim's friend Byron called and they chatted for a minute, he told him the other day I was truck died. Time to go truck shopping, he was telling him how he test drove one, ended up buying it but on his test drive he hit a deer. Craziest test drive ever I bet. Then we continued on and looked at more of the beautiful buildings here.
Had some beautiful flower beds and gardens
So pretty even for April
Here was a candy store and cheese store we got  drinks and a treat.
We got back on the bus after 5, back to truck had a 45 minute drive home. Heated up leftovers for dinner. Trying to watch TV but our internet is bad here.
I made a cheesy turkey potato corn chowder soup too. Main ingredients before I  put in the Instant pot.

Rainy Day, Dinner with Switch Crew, Jack & Mary

Rainy Day, Dinner with Switch Crew, Jack & Mary

Saturday April 22, 2023

This morning after breakfast, Jim went out for a walk again by himself. Neil stopped by looking for his sun glasses, he found them, amazed they didn't get stepped on when Jim put the chairs away last night. He also said he would have walked with Jim.
I stayed in and enjoyed the quiet listened to Corrine, while I cleaned a little.
After he returned, we had the last of our Ruby Tuesday salads together, he ate outside. And then shortly after it started to rain for the rest of the day and pretty much poured. I wanted to go out and squeegee the camper but it never stopped long enough to do it. It does make it look alot cleaner.. Then we got ready as Jack and Mary Warren we're going to pick us up and take us to dinner at a place they like in the area. They only live 40 minutes from Thousand Trails Chesapeake Bay, where we are staying now.
They picked us up in between raindrops, we went to a place called two drummers they had a really cool drum pendant lights above the tables.
They did have live music outside, but it was full out there, plus it would have been too loud to talk. We really enjoyed their company, and  sharing stories with them on their up coming travels this year and, with their recent upgrade to their Thousand Trails they want to spend the winter in Florida for the whole season this year. We thank them for dinner, it was lovely of them to treat us, we had a great barbecue meal together. We took a drive and went through two different campgrounds, one called Rockahock and Ed Allen's. Famous football coach from the area.
They both had alot of permanent residence. They had nice park models with extentions build on. No pictures it was raining to much to put windows down.
They dropped us off was after 9 pm. Thank you both so much. I made a instant pot of rice for tomorrow before bed.

Sunday April 23, 2023

This morning Jim got up first and got the coffee going I got up right after that. He put the heat pump on as it was pretty cold in here this morning. Although the air was running when we went to bed.

We had a nice relaxing morning as usual, our favorite time of the day I think, enjoyed our coffee. I made us breakfast Jim washed the dishes I made the bed and he said he wanted to go for a walk again. I reminded him Neil told me yesterday he would go with him. So around 10:00 a.m. they left together to walk and I worked on the blog, and listened to Corrine, And got the lasagna soup preped for our lunch together when they return. What a beautiful day today is after all that rain yesterday.

Nancy came over and I showed her how I make Lasagna soup in the Instant pot. They came over later when it was ready. We made the rest of the breadsticks in the Ninja grill. She had went to the store earlier and made Jim his favorite apple dumplings. We had a nice lunch together outside.
We had just gotten new neighbors and an older lady Barbara and her dog said hi to us, I asked if they had lunch yet, she said NO we were to busy just setting up. Her son and DIL help, then she stays here a month. I made them 3 bowls and carried it over for them. She thanked me.
Neil and Nancy  Savage, so nice spending a few days together and sharing meals with you both, thank you for the firewood.

Later Barbara's DIL brought my bowls back. She told me she had an IP and never used it. It was a gift from her work. I told her a few things I make and what to do. She said she is excited to go home and try it.

Later after we had everything cleaned up, we took a golf cart ride saw this cool Smoker trailer, it said
" My Blackstone is BIGGER than yours" has a water heater too, looks like he might use it for a small business.
Then we checked out the hot tub, and later went back to start pedicures for us. It was foamy didn't like that, so we only put our feet in.
Later made zucchini fries in the Ninja Woodfire Grill,  so good and pork fried rice for dinner for us,  together again. We had another campfire.

Neil and Nancy arrive today

Neil and Nancy arrive today.

Friday April 21, 2023

This morning Jim and I did our normal morning routine. Then we decided to go for a walk together. I haven't walked really since all the pollen has been bothering me.
We left and took a great hike through the woods had to do a lot of backtracking. Alot of empty cabins in the woods and this guy was on the porch of one.
We saw a lot of turtles on the logs in the water. Got some great pictures we visited the Welcome Center.
We probably walked about 2 hours.
The last 2 days the weather has been great very,  warm, only  a little heat needed at night.

Once we returned I put together some salads from Ruby Tuesday's from yesterday. We had a great lunch and Neil and Nancy were on their way today and going to be spending a few days with us before they head out. They found a site fairly close to us and we invited them over for dinner, and we used our Ninja Grill and showed them how it worked.
Earlier I had made a zucchini pie we heated that back up then we grilled / smoked chicken, I also had some leftover spaghetti and put Aldi's breadsticks on the grill too.
We had a nice dinner together outside. And then Jim and Neil made a collective pile of firewood
and Jim made a fire we had a lovely evening together although no pictures maybe later.

Restock Supplies

Restock Supplies

Thursday April 20, 2023

Today Jim went for a walk this morning after breakfast. I was able to get some laundry done.
Later after he returned and showered we got ready and went out to shop, the fridge has not been this empty for awhile.
Really nice drive when you leave the park.
First we wanted to go to Home Depot, he got more electrical stuff for a project a long time in the making. Found kitchen sink caulking. Decided to get a piece of molding trim to make a few frames.

And then we went to Ruby Tuesdays for lunch. The salad bar is great, I decided to ask if it's possible to get one to go. She said she'd get a price and ask the manager, and it was only  $4.99 for a huge salad to go, she gave me a big round container and another small one for sides and dressing. Ended up enough salad for four more meals.  Was a great deal to get more bang for our lunch buck.
After we left Jim waited for me I went to Aldi's, he waited in the truck and I had a great fun shopping,  found a lot of stuff I wanted.

Then we left and went to Walmart found a few more things Aldi's didn't have, Also got some yarn, Jim of course bought some beer.
I had a very detailed list on my phone, lists for different stores, measurements for a few projects etc. We had just looked at it for the frames I want to make to put up around some pictures that I just put on the wall a long time ago. 5 X 20
I don't know what I did, but the list disappeared. Everything else when you touch delete it says are you sure, but not this time gone. Everything on the list GONE. SO frustrating second time it happened now. I just start it over now.

We left at 430, we filled up with diesel and headed back.
We took a golf cart ride had nice views.
This is the Piankatank River

Then we got home and I heated up leftover spaghetti for dinner.

Day Resting

Day Resting

Wednesday April 19, 2023

Today we decidedly to stay home and rest. Jim went out for a walk in the morning after breakfast. Later he actually got his fishing rod and took it in went fishing, said he caught one fish.
I worked on the blog and listening to no BS for a while.
Jim came up with our travel plan we followed to return to Pennsylvania. Was pretty cool, almost there.
Later took a golf cart ride.
Didn't feel like doing much today, although I am starting to feel better. I had bought a bottle of 100% cherry juice with plum. I wanted to use it my sparkling water, but I really didn't like it, and our neighbor has a six-year-old boy,  I thought might like juice. Our kids used to love it so while Jim was out fishing I walked it over while they were sitting outside. Her name is Holly we chatted for a while and she thanked me for the juice.
I had texted Jim that I had made the spaghetti in  the instant pot but I wanted to make this little pizza thing on the grill outside to go with it. So he arrived while we chatted, he got the grill going and we ate dinner. Trying to get our TV situated we watched  Survivor. Stayed up a little later than I wanted to.

Lexington Virginia to a Thousand Trails, Chesapeake Bay

Lexington Virginia to Thousand Trails Chesapeake Bay

Tuesday April 18, 2023

This morning we got up, last night was a great spot I slept a lot better. Helps going to bed so early. We got it together, I made a nice lunch for travel day Jim did all the things outside, and we pulled out about 9:30 ish. He went down to the truck stop and filled our tank with diesel.
Then we headed out to a Thousand Trails we were never at before, heard good things about it. We made one stop at a rest area.

Great Views, had Scenic overlooks where you could pull over for a fantastic View. Of course we never do but I got a couple shots. The one with the flags was a memorial for Road workers that were killed.
I had lunch in the truck. Once we arrived at Thousand Trails Chesapeake Bay, no one was at the gate, we had to call said she'd be right up, I started eating lunch by then it was way after one p.m.. Jim started and stopped till we finally finished.
He jumped in the golf cart with her to pick out the spot. When they came back, we headed to site B-58.
It was great it's a huge site she told me we have from pedestal to pedestal.
We were barely unhooked and some guy came over in a golf cart started talking to us and invited us to the hot tub, I think he said it was a 20 person one. Okay kind of weird but whatever. And then he said oh do you have a telescoping mirror. Jim said no but he had one with a magnet, he said I might be back, okay thanks and left, later when Jim was outside he knocked on the door and wanted to borrow some oil. So he came in and I gave him half of a solo cup he had, full of oil.
I was on the phone with Cindy for an hour and she heard the second half of that. Kind of awkward but funny Jim said he was going to keep an eye on that guy.
Jim had the golf cart together by now, he took a ride first while I was talking to Cindy. He saw a HGT and later we took a ride, stopped at the store and they had Utz potato chips.
Then as we were driving we had stopped and talked to a guy with the HDT of course. He was quite knowledgeable, and he knew it. He was a retired driver. Was quite the rig, he had it wrapped.
Right when we were about to leave I saw some people walking by and I looked and I yelled at the Jim is that Joan.
It was Jim took our picture it was so cool but they're leaving Thursday it was so great to see her, even just for a quick HI. and her friend. And her husband Jim.

We had a nice ride around this park. Alot of seasonal sites, no one here in most of them.
Then we got home I made dinner heated up the catfish and we tried to get some TV hasn't been easy. I went to bed early again.
