Let The Learning Curve Begin

Let The Learning Curve Begin

Monday February 26, 2024

Our youngest granddaughter is 12 today. Happy Birthday Mia.
Mia and her Mom.

Now we begin the learning curve, and the Journey to accomplish a lot of tasks that wouldn't even be a thing without the HDT.
I wanted to do walk fit this morning here at Clerbrook Golf and RV Resort. But too much to do, so after breakfast about 10:30, we left to go start our errands.
First we stopped at D & R tire and Automotive Official, to get two new tires on the front of the F450.
He said they had to order them, and they come twice a day, so there's a good chance they will come in later, and we can still get them put on today.
The man was lovely at the counter. He did beautiful paintings and he's hung a few on the wall in the shop office.
The large one in the back is the original.
He sells copies, but the originals are for his six grandchildren. Beautiful work. Above is his youngest granddaughter, he painted all 6 GKids.
Then we left the tire place and went to pick up Jim's new glasses. Found out they were ready when we were in Iowa. All they did was pretty much throw them at you. No trying them on,  tweaking them making sure they fit properly, not here. We have to make an appointment for that. Another thing that's different with our doctor's from PA.
Then we left the eye doctor and went to wash the truck in Groveland.
First we vacuumed it out. Then Jim used the Goof Off to get the sap off the truck, that we haven't been able to remove since Maine.
We were about ready to start washing it, and we got a call from the Insurance lady. I left a message with her.  She is having problems getting the HDT insured, with our new Crestview, Florida address. So we thought we'd try the suggestion from our mail service place.
Gave her all the information she needed.
Then we proceeded to work on the truck. Jim washed it really good, we even took a bench, bucket some soap, and our brush along. I tried to help where I could. Then it dried pretty quickly and we polished it with the product we found at the RV show.
By then we worked up a powerful hunger, it was after 1:00 in the afternoon. We planned to go to Ruby Tuesday's for salad for lunch. We also shared some ribs and took the rest home.
After lunch as soon as we got back in the truck the phone rang and our tires were in.
Then we went to our new bank Wells Fargo, and took out cash for the tires, it was a little cheaper with cash not to have the credit card fee.
Then we went back to  D & R tire, and they fairly quickly got the two new front tires on the truck.
Then we stopped at Publix for frozen yogurt and strawberries. Daddy needs beer, Mommy needs frozen yogurt.
Then we headed home, took truck for a photo opt, it is now ready to sell. Jim said having the new tires on was a world of difference in driving it.

Once we got home we did take a ride around the campground in the Smart car. Then we came back and by now it was pretty much dark and Jim grilled
a steak for dinner and salmon for me.
HDT for a grill stand.

Jim didn't sleep well last night worried about insurance. I was up first, he was up shortly after, I made him sausage biscuits and gravy for breakfast. Then I was looking on the internet for someone to call for insurance for the HDT.
Found a random post someone recommended Progressive. Decided to give him a try, it was an older post but I tried.
It was a total success :) he knew how to write a policy for Florida. Apparently no one else did.
As of the end of the day we are covered and it was only a $60 increase each month, from what we previously were doing. But now we have a car too.
Not bad at all, game changer. I kept telling Jim, I can't believe we have a car.
Then shortly after Scott stopped by we were going to go for a test drive. Jim wasn't quite ready yet and it was so close to noon he was afraid it would be kind of busy to leave that time of day. So he said he'd come back in a bit which he did.
After he left I cleaned the windshield on the HDT.Jim finished getting the last little bit of our stuff out of the Ford. He took off the Flyers license plate in the front. Which a lot of people know our truck by. LOL Then I got lunch ready for the two of us. Put a few more things away inside the truck got the cargo net secured over items we stored in my top bunk bed.
Then Scott and Pam came back. We jumped in the Volvo, he drove out of here.
Pam and I sat at the table.
He was giving Jim some ideas on a smoother drive and how to operate the jake brake.  Jim got behind the wheel, he did a great job, brought it back and backed right in next to the fifth wheel.
Scott harassed Jim that he did not back up the Smart Car nearly as well, LOL. He really bugged him about that. Jim said a lot better visibility in the tractor.
Scott told him what a great job he did. Then they headed out and we plan to go to happy hour with him tomorrow.

Scott said he was going to do a few more things to the truck with Jim tomorrow. Then Jim and I had a quick visit with Neil and Nancy stopped by. I was able to return their suitcases. They took a quick peek at the truck and they will be here with their fifth wheel on Thursday.

Jim is pretty tired so he grilled two kinds of chicken. We had dinner together and he watched hockey.

Had a leisurely morning today. Decided not to do walk fit, we had so much to do yet. I think we probably will for awhile.
It was a lot easier not to go to walk fit here compared to Orlando. I really hate to miss there.
I called the phone number the campground gave me the other day for non-emergencies. We needed an official to come to the RV and verify our VIN for all three vehicles. Jim quickly finished up a shower as he was working outside earlier a little.
A volunteer stopped by he said he takes care of all the things that don't require a gun. LOL
Jim took care of that outside with him they verified all three. We had a paper for him to sign to use to go get our driver's license, plates, and registrations.
While he took care of that, I went back inside I was making hard boiled eggs, salads, cottage cheese pudding, etc.
When he was finished, we had lunch and went to do errands in the Smart car.
We left so late, but, better late than never.
We filled it up with gas for the first time. It was on about a quarter of a tank. It only took just over 8 gallons.

Then we went over to Aldi's. I went in and started shopping. Jim went over to BJ's got a few bottles. Came back and finished the end of the store with me. This was our haul, he kept saying it wouldn't fit in the car.
But it did. He saw a Mary Kay car while he was at BJ's. Love them pink Cadillacs.
Then we got back home, I quickly put things away, left two, non-perishable bags out.
Quickly got ready and met Scott and Pam in the Veranda for happy hour.
We had a lovely chat some popcorn, dessert
and snacks.
Just after 5:00 p.m. Jim had a great idea of going back to our camper and having a little potluck, with them. We told them we just bought chicken and ribs to put on our Ninja smoker grill.
She had salad and some no bake mud cookies she called them.
They came over just as it was getting dark.
Another Doberman Jim found, Beautiful dog.
Again the HDT made a great Grill stand and Buffet counter. Lol
We had a lovely time together that night. Scott got me into the new hard Mountain Dew, never heard of it before, it was quite delicious. Picture of it with the pink Cadillac above.
They hung out for a while. After they left we went inside what a great day we had with them.
