Switch Crew Campout, USS Yorktown Charleston SC

Switch Crew Campout, USS Yorktown Charleston SC

Friday May 3, 2024
This morning I was up first before 7:00, a.m. got ready pretty quickly and worked on the blog. Then I packed up a lot of water for the day, and left it by the door.
We walked up to Steve and Nancy's RV, where we all had breakfast together this morning.
Trying to meet more people we don't really know well.
Chef Steve made Migas, Cindy was telling me about it, has eggs and pico de gallo and some kind of tortilla chips and cheese, it was delicious.
We chatted and figured out carpooling. We still didn't take the car off, hopefully we won't need to.
We rode with Steve and Nancy, and our neighbor Kelly, behind us went along. Her husband Mark stayed home, he had to work today. The drive went quickly as we all chatted, and we arrived at Patriots Point.
Got a picture of all of us together, above.
Steve was in the Navy too.

Once we entered, we kind of all went our separate ways. We were going to eat it this restaurant in bottom picture,  called The Fish House.
But with the graduation going on here which was really cool to see.
The restaurant was to booked, and couldn't accommodate our large group, with a previous group of 50.

That was fine we save a little money today. I packed a few snacks for Jim and I to enjoy around 1:00.

Then we were on the flight deck.
USS Laffey, we never had time to go on that one. We didn't pace ourselves well

It was really hot in the sun up here.
Blue Angel's
I tried to get Jim to try it. Deb said it wasn't worth $8.00 each.
We found the dining area the officers had meals. The guy at the grill was a mannequin, but the Steaks on the grill behind him look so real.
I found it very interesting the women of the Navy.

Later we met Steve and Nancy outside the gift shop. Jim and I did a walk-through. Will be back on Sunday for our boat tour.
But we always find the signs funny and entertaining to read.
More signs. LOL
You should be able to touch pictures and inlarge to read and laugh.
Then we all went back in Steve and Nancy's truck, and drove back to the campground.
We got home rested, freshened up I made a black forest dump cake on the Ninja.
Jack and Mary stopped by in there quickie golf cart. They're a little bit bigger than the Crickets.
Later Cindy stopped by in their newly purchased quickie golf cart. They carried our table and dump cake to the potluck, as I walked alongside them.
We had a great potluck Chef Steve made shrimp and grits. The crew brought way more food than we needed, lol.
Our neighbor behind us Kelly, made ribs. They were fantastic, she puts them in the instant pot for 20 minutes, and then sauces them on her Grill she had in the back of her pickup truck. True tailgating campout switch crew Style.
Later after dinner we played the Left Right Center dice game. Kelly, Cindy, Carol, myself, and Deb with Jim on the end. Later Teresa joined us and played a around. I won twice, Kelly one one game, and Cindy won the last game.
Jim went home after dark. I didn't leave till probably after 9:30. Cindy, Kelly, and I are the last to leave the party. Kelly drove me home. It's a dark CG.
