New Port Richey, Lunch Cruise in Clearwater

New Port Richey, Lunch Cruise in Clearwater
Thursday March 28, 2024

This morning after breakfast Jim and I went back to Sam's Club. Hoping to find my rotisserie chickens.
We were actually able to get two. A few other things I thought I had to have too. Talked Jim into picking out two pairs of shorts. Which wasn't easy.
I guess that's my excited Sam's Club shopping face. Lol
Then we checked out and came back to the RV, put everything in the fridge and had lunch together.
After lunch we left and decided to take a little tour around New Port Richey. We parked at SIMS Park. Jim had found it earlier in the research phase of fun things to do in the area.
Wanted to get out and walk a little bit had a lovely walk around the lake. Turtles everywhere.
More Turtles and the dark black on the U shaped concrete is tad poles.
Then we came home again and I technically dropped him off and went over to Walmart next door. Mainly wanted my frozen wild blueberries and milk. I did very well and only spent $18.
I came home and Jim put the Ninja on and I baked my banana, oatmeal, pumpkin, chocolate chip cookies outside.
While inside I put a couple pork chops in the instant pot, and put the little instant pot outside and made potatoes. We had a great dinner together and sat outside for quite a while before we came in.
Later Jim went back outside to watch another hockey game.

Friday March 29, 2024.

Today we planned to go to Clearwater for a lunch Cruise. Jim did more successful research, good job hun. It was a good hour drive to get there going only 27 miles.
Then another reason we hate modern technology, is instead of paying cash to park. You have to use a kiosk that doesn't work. Finally a lady did help us. Very frustrating and Jim almost went over the edge.
Then we boarded the Calypso Queen. A lot of people were already finished eating when we boarded. Jim said he needed a beer after all that so he enjoyed a few with lunch.
They had a lovely Buffet. A sweet pork, yellow rice, mango chicken, beef and peppers, there was tortilla shells available and rolls, salad, coleslaw, some pastas, and fresh fruit, including pineapple. So the pineapple and mango they use to name the buffet, I told Jim. It was a tropical Buffet, they were trying to make it sound fancy. It was quite good.
People sitting close to us, we're trying to take pictures of themselves. I hate to see old people struggle trying to take a selfie. And then they always reciprocate and get our photograph.
We chatted with them throughout the cruise, they were from Canada and leave today.
Later we all went on the top deck.
Took some great pictures. Well our new Canadian friends.
The cruise was narrated by the captain, he told us a lot of interesting facts as we cruised.
He called this the only human aquarium, at this hotel.
The owner of this boat set up a go fund me page to retrieve it and get in back in the water. He had a bad day it looks like.
This Airbnb is so out of place looking. The lady who owned it wouldn't sell.
So they had equipment come in and dig up her sewer and electric. And she is a lawyer and sued them. Now they can't touch the property for 50 years. And it's now worth $8 million.
This picture the pool in the background was in the movie Cocoon.
Those floating tiki bars are BYOB. Bring your own bathroom.

After the Cruise was over. We walked around Clearwater for a good hour.
The Sugar Sand Festival just started,
it was extremely busy there.
They did have a butterfly house which we went into.
You got to feed the butterflies nectar.

After that we walked around I walked all the way out to Pier while Jim rested. It was packed with vendors and there was a cop with binoculars watching the people along the water.
I talked to a guy that had license plates stuff.com. we chatted about it he said he was probably watching for perverts. Sad to say the true.
Took a great picture of a pelican.
After such a nice walk around in the beautiful weather we drove home. The Smart car is doing great. It wasn't far but the traffic makes it a longer drive. We arrived back to the RV around dinner time. Now it's time to rest and have dinner together.

  1. A couple that I went to school with live in North Port Richie. She was my best friend in grade school. I get so impatient in traffic but not nearly as bad as Leonard. How does Jim react?
